Great. Let's all perpetuate this mythical cliche that women are put upon victims and men are lazy ignorami who are too stupid to realise all the effort these saintly women make.
As long as people keep thinking these things are 'funny' and we should all just 'lighten up' the more these cliches become reality. If you're a woman and you find this kind of hackneyed crap funny, then don't ever, ever moan that you're put upon because it's your own fault, frankly."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -

Exactly. It's like we have been cast back 2 decades, perpetuating the myth that women are put upon martyrs and men are useless. Makes my teeth itch with annoyance. And Morrisons have done exactly the same. Shame on them.Cogito ergo sum. Google it you lazy sod !!0 -
Can't help but agree. I find it incredibly sexist and offensive.October 2012 wins: MAOAM retro bag

I don't find it offensive, but I find it annoying (and a rubbish ad - I mean there's not 1 original idea in the whole flaming advert)!
To be fair there have been very few Christmas ads from any company that I've liked and as for "Mum's gone to Iceland"... don't get me started!A waist is a terrible thing to mind.0 -
I love this ad, for me it's like the ghost of Christmas past. Can't help but agree. I find it incredibly sexist and offensive.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Just like the ads which show mum standing up and serving food at table to hubby and kids who are sitting there with empty plates and expectant faces- who appear to have arms, legs and brains but must have food served up to them like babies lol.
Honestly those ones drive me nuts.
I had to (under close supervision) make my own packed lunches from primary school, serve myself from pans at dinner and was shown how to use the washing machine at 13- and I turned out ok! Mum was certainly not a slave in our household and it riles me in 2012 that this is shown so much still. And that so many women buy into that myth.0 -

I don't find it offensive and found certain aspects of it so true to life!
We as a family, (no children, ages 20's through to late 80's) decided about 7 years ago to at least halt the shopping, preparing serving and clearing up of Christmas lunch by putting aside £10 per month and going out for lunch on Christmas day. It means that we can enjoy the day without any hassle and just concentrate on nice gifts and spending time together.
We all help with prep for a light supper. Nice to way to spend the day for those of us who can..............0 -
i love this advert !!
i love the way my partner watched it but didnt saying ne thing after when i said what a great advert!!
The only thing my partner does is maybe come to tesco with me to get some present for our kids.0 -
I haven't seen it but it'd probably annoy me.
My beloved is a keen cook and a perfectionist so I just make the desserts and stay out of his hair while he orders venison at farm shops and cooks the Christmas roasts.
It takes nerves not to get suckered into doing lots of work though. Every year he says with a little sigh "it would be really nice if we sent out Christmas cards" and I nod in agreement, but strangely he has never gone and bought Christmas cards or stamps or put together a Christmas card address list. So we don't send out cards.0
