    Many thanks Knittingcathy - bookmarked!;)

    Dusty - excellent news - Go ED!!!:T

Honey Bear most weird - I wouldn't think you pay to get a found animal scanned, it's part of the microchipping service. Someone could be sorely missing the poor thing.:(

Honeybear, ring a local vet, ask if they would charge for scanning and then inform the neighbour.

Thanks everyone who's commented on the cat post - it's helped me realise I was set up. The neighbour knows we have cats, she must have been trying to ensure if we saw it we wouldn't reclaim it. She never had any intention of trying to find the real owner. The cat is well fed, calm and friendly - I know because I've seen it out and about before. They are owner occupiers, two cars, one son at a fee-paying school, and have absolutely no money worries. There is a reason they may be time strapped, but I don't believe them on this occasion because of something else she told me yesterday.

The vet wouldn't charge me - Dog spends every halfpenny of her pocket money every week up there, choosing 100g of this pill and 150g of that syrup, just like a kid in a sweetshop. She's keeping that vet in champagne and cavier.

What is so shocking about the neighbour is that she makes selfish, self-justifying, immoral decisions - and doesn't mind me knowing.
    Better is good enough.
  • Honey Bear they would be better finding the cats real owner and getting a genuine rescue cat if they want one that way 2 cats would benefit. What if it is a child that the cat belongs to.

I know Lamewolf and Knitting Cathy. That's bothering me too, but this household is 'tricky' to deal with at the best of times (and I've got 19 years of fairly unpleasant experience of them). My plan is that the minute Cat Lost posters appear around here, I will contact the phone number and say I think I might know where the cat is being cared for ... jsut to keep it safe ... and take the true owner around, personally, to politely suggest, just to clear up any possible doubts, that Next Door allows the real owner sight of the 'rescued' cat to make sure it's not the missing animal.

My OH left his grandmother's garden gate open when he was about seven years old, and granny's dog Timmy disappeared, never to be seen again. OH is still haunted by Timmy and OH is 65, which was one of the reasons I offered to get the cat checked. I would NEVER allow this ghastly, hideous, selfish, immoral family to do that to a child, or someone who genuinely loves their animal but mistakenly believes you can allow a cat to wander freely in a city. You just can't trust people to be honest and do the right thing any more, if they think they can get away with it.

    They can't when I'm around.
    Better is good enough.
  • Dusty thank you for the update on Ed, its good to hear hes continuing to improve adn is doing so well.

Honeybear, i hope the cats proper owners are soon reunited with it.
we had our cat Roger from a rescue centre. they guessed he was between 2-4 when we got him and we had him for 12 years before he slipped away last year. he was found in a ladies garage shed fed him over christmas and new year then took him to the resuce centre as she didnt want a cat and wanted the garage back, funily in all the time we had him it was like htere was an invisible forcefield around our house he would follow us so far down the road then sit down and start to cry and not follow any further. DH said hed obviously strayed slightly too far from his last home and didnt want to make the mistake again. but woe betide any other cat who made the mistake of coming into rogers garden they got sent off with very short shift.

been out for weeks I am a weather wuss

So, my pondering is in anticipation of next year actually, and doesn't require an immediate decision but is about whether I work more hours when DS goes to school, and increase DD's nursery days. I'm inclined to think that if it's financially viable, I stay as I am.

How about you ladies? Have any of you gone from part-time to full time? And how old were your children? How did you feel?

    Thanks xxx
