oh dear sf- how far away is home?

If you get there will family feed you and help you out with clothes??

Home is four hours away, and £48 a ticket (return) so I just can't afford it at the moment. I've been writing down what I could make out of the things in my cupboard, and am going to go to the supermarket today and get a few bits and bobs. I've worked out that I could stretch it to £15 a week if needed, but I'm going to try and keep it to £10 if possible. I'll have a look in town in New Look and Internationale for cheap dresses - I've got some shoes I could wear and a jacket so its just the dress I need. This will be a good learning curve at any rate.

    Welcome verynewmoneysaver,
We allow ourselves £10 a week for all unbudgeted items but the real challenge is only to buy what is necessary.
and as ciara implies - it helps a little to be a bit mad!

    Hi Jet,
You sound like such a good mum to your girls - they are so lucky to have you!

Understand what you are saying about the gentlemen friend - there are some good ones out there, but it's not the time for you yet. Still you had a well earned nice night out.

Mr Pippo aka Pops is a good 'un - we've been together for 32 years!!!
    (I was achild bride!!)

But he could still be Mr Very Grumpy if I don't get the mess in this house sorted out soon!!
Ciara - you must have our good weather too & I'm doing my pre -holiday washing marathon & can't put the clothes out on the line!! I refuse to use the tumble dryer unless it is an absolute emergency, so the house resembles widow twanky's laundry!!

I've just been to Sainsburys and spent £7.70 on food for the week :) There are charity shops around, but they're not the best ones to be honest! I'll keep looking though. Thanks for the support, it feels great to know I can come on here and complain :)
