Me too - cheese and biscuits from the cafe at work set me back £2 when I had afternoon munchies today. Really looking forward to moving to a new office in September with no shops for miles aroundilovefreegle.org - give it away don't throw it away0

Hey everyone,
I'm a little bit new to this money saving lark but I'm liking it so far. Really like the sound of this challenge, keep congratulating myself for coming under budget on my food but recently realised that this could be a whole lot more under if I stopped unnecessaries too.
I have two big problems: 1) When I'm watching my spending I feel like I can 'treat' myself with little things, like a bag of crisps or a bought coffee, which I would never have done before. Anyone got a good way to 'treat' myself for free and without the calories?
2) Also related to snacking, I get a ravenous appetite at certain times of the month, which makes me buy crisps and chocolate. Anyone got any ideas of good little snacks that are also cheaper, filling & will stop me popping to the shop/vending machine?
Thanks xxxStarting early before it all gets out of control!

And I only read Post #1 before jumping up, fishing out 2 x £2 coins, fastidiously placing them on the bench in a pile (where the next 5 will be for next week) and I've decided that this is all I will ever leave the house with on a weekday morning in my pocket... 1 £2 coin...
I am copying lock, stock and barrel from CAFCGirl, (I cannot believe how much that 'going into the bank' thing resonates with me!!) with one exception, as I walk in the flat after work, my change from the £2 coin goes in my loose change tin, even if it's a £2 coin, which is on said bench, next to the pile of coins... A "Saving Cycle"... Heheheh... My tin will also still get every other 1p, 2p, 5p, and 10p I aquire along the way, regardless... I now expect that bad-boy to increase so fast it makes my head spin!!!!
The first post said it all for me... We are strange, strange creatures really... When all is said and done...

Panicking!
That had me laughing on my chair and has cheered me up no end!
Welcome to the challenge. Given that you yourself, seem a little.............. excitable, I think you'll fit right in!
Work for me today and then day off tomorrow. I'm so glad since I feel absolutely rough as hell! I'm hoping its just a morning thing, but now have to face a giant delivery at work, with what I can only describe as the most hygenically challenge delivery driver ever!
C'est la vie!
In spending some money yesterday (£1.99) I had to break into a £20 which was money the bf owed me that I got at the weekend, andasked for as much of my change as possible into £2 coins. So think I might join Panicking there and only let myself have one of those pretty little coins for company today. Got some expenses to claim back from work as well.
Hope everyone has a good day, I'm off to finish getting ready!Wealth is not measured by currency0 -

Excitable is one way of putting it... Though I've heard others...
And good luck with the smelly driver... Nothing worse than bad personal hygene... No excuse for not washing, in my humble... *shivers at the thought*... I'm a two showers (and often a bath) a day guy... the thought turns my stomach!
Spent £0.70 this morning on 2 apples... Had no time for breakfast as I slept in a bit, and MAN was I hungry... Somehow, 2 apples @ 70p, seems FAR better than my usual in these circumstances of a Sausage Ciabatta @ £2.75... Sig updated... Oh, and I back dated it to Monday, as for the first time in my life, I can actually remember what I spent that long ago!!
Anyhow... morning all... Have a tip-top day!Total Debt at LBM 30/05/2007: £28,720... I... Am... Calm...
