Cats/dogs on the bed - what are your thoughts?

My dogs sleep downstairs and although they are allowed upstairs i dont like them in my bedroom so i keep the door shut so they cant go in. However, on rare occasions they do come in whilst i'm in bed they do like to jump on the bed and snuggle up next to me.
When i do get up i have to spend ages with some sticky tape to get the dog hairs off the quilt. They arent allowed to lie on the fitted sheet or pillows though. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
We used to let our previous dog on our bed all the time. Before we got our puppy we swore that he wouldn't be allowed on the bed or sofa. That lasted a few months.
However, he's not really a bed-loving dog. He'll come up for a while for a cuddle or a wrestle, and then he'll go and lie on the floor or on his own bed.
They always seem to find the most awkward positions for sleeping on your bed. They start off lying lengthways up and down the bed, and then in the night they seem to swivel around until you wake up half hanging off the bed and they are lying sideways and more bloody comfortable than you are. Or, they push in between both of you, and you end up with no duvet to cover you. And they grumble when you send them off. Our old one used to give the biggest huff when he lay down in his own bed after being told off.marlasinger0 -
Our 11 year old fluffy female cat sleeps with my 9 year old daughter every night, this has been happening since she was a toddler, they have a very special bond and seem to not be able to sleep properly without each other....0

My cat will sleep on the bed during the day, he takes his fancy on which bed he wants to sleep on. It could be my bed one day, my sisters the next, or my aunties another day. He and our other 2 cats, (have 4 in total but the other one has lived outside her whole life) do not sleep on beds at night they are put outside and the other stays in the utility room at night as she would torture you at night wanting this that and another, so it makes life easier for us.
Our Yorkshire Terrier sleeps on my brother/sisters bed every night, there is no stopping her going to bed, if we kept her downstairs she would be barking and scratching the door all night looking to go to either bed. Plus my brother likes her going to bed with him so they're happy all round.0 -
Both cats at some point sleep on our bed every day, male cat comes up with me at night for a cuddle for an hour or so before hubby comes to bed. But now I'm pregnant, I'm finding that although its lovely that he wants to snuggle up and purr next to the baby(!) i'm getting uncomfortable and can barely move so i end up sending him downstairs early!!!
When I lived at home, my black Lab used to sleep in my single bed with me (yes, inside, under the duvet) lovely hot water bottle he was, huge thing who ended up shoving me to the edge of the bed. I wouldnt have had it any other way:):)
But I want a golden goose daddy and I want it right NOW!!!!!
Yes Verucca dear. :rotfl:0 -
Both of my cats sleep on the spare bed during the day and occasionally 1 may sleep on my bed during the day. At night, 1 will always either sleep on my bed or in my bed. She's a huge cat and takes up most of the bed when she is under the duvet so I get a tiny bit of the bed! She does seem to get fed up with me moving around in the night so she then tends to sleep on the blanket at the end of the bed.Debt 30k in 2008.:o Cleared all my debt in 2013 and loving being debt free

Sometimes our dogs let us get into our bed with them.....they even allow us 6 inches of mattress and a wee bit of duvet too. Oh I love our dogs. I'd have another ten if dh would let me.0
