Killer Cat does occasionally sleep on our bed with us, never under the covers. Likewise Luna the lab has been known to sleep on our bed but generally this is discouraged because quite frankly she takes up too much room!!!!

My little Jack a doodle has lovely manners and does not shed hair, so he is allowed to join me on the couch or bed by invitation only. I always said I would never allow a dog on my bed after my rescued great dane. The poor girl had been badly abused and when she came to live she had no confidence, so I practically carried her around for months and had her in bed with me. Fine at 4 months but she had her own single bed within the year!

all 3 of our cats share my dd's bed with her - it must be a squeeze as its not even a full size single. She comes and gets in with us in the morning, usually with at least 1 kitten tucked in her dressing gown that she tries to smuggle in but our bed is for creatures with 2 legs only!

Our cat is permanently barred from our bedroom after he peed on the bed 3 times, still don't know why he did it as he is litter trained.

    Snap!

I do let my other 2 cats in sometimes at night but then have to get up to open the door in the middle of the night so dont do it often.

Our two cats a confined to the kitchen or even outside at night time. They might occasionally manage to sneak upstairs during the day and curl up on a bed until they're found and shoo'ed away, but they are generally quite content with living room and kitchen only. All the inside doors are shut at night anyway so if they are in the kitchen then they're stuck there!! And my bedroom door is also closed so it's tough really.

And it looks like we made it once again
Yes it looks like we made it to the end

Wow, I can't believe people do this! But as someone else has said, each to their own. Personally I can't understand why someone would want an animal in their house, let alone in their bed, but I realise I am very much in the general minority there! I don't think anyone should worry about what is 'normal' or socially acceptable, you should just do what makes you happy (as long as it is legal and doesn't harm anyone of course!)

I feel the same way about kids

We usually have our two cats sleeping on the bed and our lurcher under the covers at the bottom of the bed. Never really thought about it but they are family so it would be weird to us to make them sleep downstairs.
  • I have a baby gate on the top of my stairs to stop the dog (fatty Betty Boo!) coming up.

Its not only that she smells and moults all over the place .... its the horrendous snoring that keeps me awake even when she's downstairs in the kitchen!

I never minded the pets sharing my bed - you couldnt stop the cat from sleeping on my feet - he got past closed doors!
I often woke up with sons Hamster sharing the pillow too! even with the cat sleeping on feet!
My OH hated it though - hence closed door. especially as Cat (who was of an evil mind) used to wake OH up by biting his toes! what really annoyed OH was that Cat used to wake ME by licking my nose!

Dog used to sleep stretched out across bedroom doorway - was often woken up by OH tripping over her and swearing a blue streak!
  • Nope. It's a shame really because the MIL's cat will actually just go to sleep and stay asleep, but our two have woken me up more than once by chasing each other over my head so now they stay downstairs.
It's not easy having a good time. Even smiling makes my face ache.
