You should BOTH get the £100. So between you, you will still receive the same £200.0

This year I became eligible & I understand that only one of us receives the payment per household but why has the amount gone down to £100? It was paid into the bank yesterday & I had a look at Gov website for info. It appears that if there are 2 people under 80, the payment is now only £100. I don't understand the logic there & we depend on the extra to top up the gas bill. Can anyone tell me why this is?
It went up to £250 one year - wasn't it when we were approaching an election at which older people are known to vote more than younger people? - but the extra £50 was withdrawn the following year as a cost-saving measure.
If there is one of you in the household who is eligible then that person gets £200. If there are 2 of you equally eligible - both the right age - then you get half each.Ær ic wisdom funde, ær wearð ic eald.

Assuming the rules don't change in the mean time, then I think it's likely to be Winter 2015-16
This years eligibility is for people born before 5th July 1951
https://www.gov.uk/winter-fuel-payment/eligibility
I believe this is linked to the state pension age of women, as this date is the latest possible date in which women can have been born and be eligible for the state pension during this years WFA 'qualifying week' of 17th - 23rd September 2012
Next year, because the state pension age for women is moving upwards, the corresponding date to qualify for the 2013-14 allowance (i.e the latest date on which women can be born and be eligible for State Pension in September 2013) is 5th January 1952
http://www.pensionsadvisoryservice.org.uk/state-pensions/state-pension-age-calculator?
And the following year (WFA 2014-15) it'll be 5th July 1952.
So by my reckoning, under the current position, someone born in October 1952 will have to wait until 2015-16 - by which time we'll have had a general election and the eligibility rules may have changed or the allowance been cut ....0 -
