I slice mine first then open freeze them before popping in a bag so I can get out how many I want - I usually use them in a spag bol or similar but I get better results by slicing them first rather than leaving them whole

Thanks for that, I'll try them that way next time I have some to freeze.

I've been experimenting recently with freezing mushrooms since I often get left with some that I don't want to use immediately. Mostly I just fry them a little first and then freeze, but I've just used some that I'd tried freezing whole and uncooked. Hopeless, as OP says - very waterlogged (and I'd thawed them in fridge).

    Hi jumblejack,

Now that your thread has dropped down the board I've added it to the main thread on freezing mushrooms where you'll find more advice.

Err, do you lot realise what mushrooms are grown in?? I'm always careful to make sure any I use are really well cleaned. Wouldn't eat em otherwise :D

Errr, you cook them don't you? I have the feeling the cooking kills just about anything, definitely more then a bit of water would. :D

I personally would chop & cook. If you freeze raw, they'll go all watery & mushy
