O/S daily thread Thurs 8th Nov 2012

Options
Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 8th Nov. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the
Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

    Morning all

Dark and wet again here, woke at 4.30 and couldn't get back to sleep.

Busy day at work yesterday then went for a much needed haircut, my hairdresser has moved to her own salon which is very nice and much cheaper too. DD also went earlier in the day and came back with a very fetching blonde and purple hairdo! (It actually looks quite nice).

Made a very large pot of lentil soup last night with a ham hough I got from L!dl, enough meat on it for a few sandwiches too. Most of the soup has been portioned and frozen to use for lunches at work for DD and me.

Not much else going on, hugs to those in need and special thoughts to JackieO's DD today.

    Take care. XX

    Morning all,
I hope everyone is ok. I havent actually been on this thread for a long time. I just thought I would start coming here again as I am trying to get a grip on my very low income by being as frugal as possible,so I have been coming to money saving a lot, again. I am a mature student in health studies and have college today.I am by far the eldest but I guess someone has to be ;)
Jackie O, I hope your daughters op goes ok x Everyone else, I hope you have a good day.Hopefully my posts will get a bit more interesting than this one.x

    Morning everyone

Hugs to those that need/want them that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x

Light cloud, warmer, and not raining but very wet underfoot here this morning. DH up and off to work stupid early.

Dinner was beef stew and dumplings, mash, and veg, sweet treats from the tins for those that had room. Tonight's dinner I'm not sure what we will be having, fridge is looking a bit bare, but cupboards/freezers are well stocked so I will to have a rummage and come up with a concoction!

Have all the normal chores to do over the next couple of days, washing (basket is full and overflowing!), drying, and ironing, housework, also need to get organised for going away next weekend, decide when I'm going to make my xmas cake and puds (need to get going with this but do have some time off week after next so could leave it until then). Will be trying to write a menu and shopping list ready for tomorrow.

Friend came over for coffee and chat after school yesterday, boys watched some tv and generally chatted whilst we chatted and had coffee, she brought my vouchers that I've been contributing towards, pleased they arrived promptly as I will be attacking the xmas shopping week after next whilst on leave to get it all done and finished and wrapped. (that's the plan anyway!!)

Have a great day everyone, stay safe and well x

Morning all, damp but warmish here today so nice walk for me and jack. Kitten doesn't come with us any more, think he's found something else to do. Off to school in a while, going to teach the kids about Remembrance Day today, they always enjoy doing that even though it is a bit of a sad topic. DH is going to put washing on and dinner is planned so hopefully I can do some knitting when I get home. Welcome to all the newbies, you will feel very welcome on here, all the posters are lovely and very supportive. Best wishes for your DD JackieO, hope the op goes well. Hope Maud and Molly are OK BBird.
Hugs to all in need and hope everyone has a good day:)

    Welcome to the newbies.

No tea to cook tonight as the boys are off to football. Will pull some steak out of the freezer and they can have steak and mushroom sandwiches for supper.
I will have my usual salad and fish.
