If it was dangerous the police would have taken action.
You need to understand a 40' trailer takes up more space than you car so they often need more than one lane.
The driver wasnt taking up more than 1 lane....rather he was exiting a roundabout from 3 lanes in....the lane he was in was for the exit after.....he actually said he found this particular roundabout to be horrible and didn't like it. He was more concerned with getting off work early....it was a friday and was peeved off because he had to wait for Tescos lot o come breathalyse him. That's the procedure for all accidents involving their drivers0 -
You are being a bit of a drama queen to be honest. Accidents happen, no driver can ever say that they never made a driver error, most of the time we get away with it. Unfortunately this time he didnt.
No one was hurt, let the insurnace companies deal with it and move on.
There is a sign on a lot of lorries that says
'If you cant see my mirrors, the I can't see you'
I respect that immensely, mainly because all bar none are bigger than me.
Let it go, your stress will be passed on to your children.
I couldn't see his mirrors because I was half in front of him.
Kids are shook up already because he truck actually lifted the back of the car and dropped it. One of my kids is still frightened when a truck comes anywhere near the car I'm driving.
Thank you to all helpful replies....may god bless you. Tescos themselves have actually given me details on who to contact

It's not the procedure for all Tesco drivers.
You fail to grasp the fact that on some islands the truck does not physically fit in one lane all the way round.0 -

Without knowing the full facts it's impossible to say if the lorry driver was dangerous or not.
By the sounds of it you were in the other lane on the roundabout and the lorry exited while you were partially alongside. That begs the question how your car came to be in that position.
Be careful around lorries as they have difficulty seeing smaller vehicles as you've found out.
The main thing is nobody got hurt.
The point of my post wasn't to example the full details of the accident but to ask if anyone could help with email contact details.....why do people not read the question0 -
I don't agree with Pepper often but as he says, on roundabouts lorries often need more than one lane. That is why (as I said earlier) I always give them space.
You say you couldn't see his mirrors because you were HALF in front of him. Does that mean you pulled out in front of him as he was coming around and got caught out?
Whatever happened, you should always give them tons of space on a roundabout as their vision is very limited.0 -

Seriously, are you and TrickyWicky reading a different post from me?
The OP clearly says the lorry was trying to exit at an exit earlier than they were in a lane for.
If the OP had been squashed between the roundabout and the lorry then I would agree with you as the trailer takes a tighter line. I might also agree if it was the back of the lorry and they'd been caught out by the tail swing but the OP clearly states they were on the outside of the lorry and the driver tried to take an exit that they were not in a lane for.
That's nothing to do with space, that's "oh god I've missed my exit" CRUNCH and 100% the lorry drivers fault. If he'd missed it, he should have gone round again, simple. What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0 -

So what's your point?
Neither of us has said it wasn't the.truck drivers fault.0 -

So, tell the insurance company about the 'emotional distress' your family members are experiencing - they will include it in consideration of the payout.
Honestly, you are just going to invest effort for no great return in writing to everyone about this. It will not help your children forget the incident - you dwelling on it only prolongs the agony.
The police did not consider this to be dangerous driving, the company will investigate (you said yourself that they take things seriously by making the driver wait for a company representative to attend).
What more do you want exactly - you have the insurance company working on the case, the police have attended and saw nothing for the driver to answer for, a company representative attended the accident site.... really, what more do you want? The driver tried in public and then subjected to a flogging perhaps?
Or compensation?:hello:0
