Being a bit harsh there I think. The OP has had a scary experience and with kids in the car wants to know if something is being done. I find that perfectly understandable.

The first bit about the police is just repeating what another poster already said, so no need to have another go about that.

The important bit for the OP is that yes, it could have been a contractor and they are only dealing with an insurance company. It might not have even made it back to Tesco.

The insurance aspect is seperate to what the OP was asking, does anyone know how they can raise the issue with Tesco and ask about getting an apology? Who knows, they may even get some vouchers out of it aside from the insurance claim.

I do hope you are insured with Tesco OP!

Even though the driver has admitted liability I would think their legal department would advise them against getting involved.

Nothing to stop the Op from trying though I suppose.

You are being a bit of a drama queen to be honest. Accidents happen, no driver can ever say that they never made a driver error, most of the time we get away with it. Unfortunately this time he didnt.

No one was hurt, let the insurnace companies deal with it and move on.

There is a sign on a lot of lorries that says

'If you cant see my mirrors, the I can't see you'

I respect that immensely, mainly because all bar none are bigger than me.

Let it go, your stress will be passed on to your children.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

    Exactly.

That's all the OP was asking and has instead been given insults and as it stands, zero help.

My mrs recently had a sign at a local Asda blow over and hit her car. The trolley guy flagged it to her and the manager apologised and passed on the insurance details to get the dent fixed.

She actually wrote to the store thanking them for the way they had dealt with it as a bit of customer service can go a long way.
What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?

Why have you waited 4 weeks to complain about it?

Without knowing the full facts it's impossible to say if the lorry driver was dangerous or not.

By the sounds of it you were in the other lane on the roundabout and the lorry exited while you were partially alongside. That begs the question how your car came to be in that position.

Be careful around lorries as they have difficulty seeing smaller vehicles as you've found out.

The main thing is nobody got hurt.

I think it was the drama of the post talking about wanting an investigation into why he was driving dangerously, and making sure it does not happen to anyone else.

Companies must get this all the time, I doubt Tesco will be interested in the big scheme of things.

I could be wrong, but I think Tesco would just reply that the matter is in the hands of their insurers and that they cannot comment.

Again, totally agree but this is clearly something emotional for the OP and there are ways of saying something without being insulting.

Think this is worth a quick highlight from the top of the forum rules as a number of posters seem to have forgotten it:

and insureres are taking care of it.

Thats about the most you'll get out of them. They're not going to tell you if they fired him or suspended him - that would be against the Data Protection Act. They are his employer so they are not allowed to divulge details of his workplace activities as it is confidential.

As you yourself said, the insurers are dealing with it.

Again as someone pointed out about the lorry mirrors, if you can't see them they can't see you. I never let myself get close to a lorry and if I see one getting close I make sure I'm getting out of its way. I always give them plenty of space when in front or behind as the braking distances on them are stupid and if I'm behind one and ram into it when braking I have no chance against a solid lump of a lorry.

There are two sides to every story and I suspect while the lorry hit you, you may have put yourself in his way somehow or just refused to slow down / move away. Lorry drivers are highly trained professional drivers who are taught to use safe driving techniques to avoid killing someone. Most car drivers are just put through a bog standard test and once they pass they start taking shortcuts and devloping bad habits on the road then blame others when they get smacked up.

I'm not saying the op is wrong here afterall they claim the driver accepts liability (its one thing saying that at the scene but another when it comes to the insurers) but I think there is a bit more to this tale.

Just because it has Tesco livery its unlikely the driver or vehicle are employed or owned by Tesco, its all subcontracted. Tesco themselves are probably not even aware the accident happened it will be dealt with by the subcontractor and their insurer. What do you expect from Tesco?

    Thanks

That's what the Police are for...they will investigate and if anything untoward is found they will liaise with the CPS and prosecute the driver...its nobody elses role to investigaten the driver
