Working again all day so fed completely and unhealthily for free. But another NSD. Also listed some more bits on Ebay to make use of the FLW so will hopefully make some pennies on those.

I have made myself an Ebay spreadsheet to track exactly how much profit I make, Geeky I know:D

Am also considering what else I could do to supplement income. BF is in no state to contribute as every penny is going towards seeing his mum and my £200 contribution plus Ebay and overtime doesnt really cut it. Considering training in manicures, massages, waxing etc.
  • Hope you get plenty of sales from your free listings this past weekend. Don't whatever you do get down in the dumps, cos your inspirational no spend days, risk turning into silly spend days. Am not sure what the costs of training for beauty therapies are, or the insurance costs, which I assume will be required. I have just applied for a pt job doing market research, I have done a bit of research through my fb friends, and the vast majority of them would assist with any market research projects which I might struggle to get my quota with. One actually suggested on a Friday night, a few bottles of wine, and six or seven friends, to do any mr projects that have come in that week. This is obviously not what is planned by the mr agency, but it did make me chuckle. Stay positive, and keep focused Lilyp x

Andi I wish I had read your lovely message before I went to Tescos and spent £15 on alcohol! However I did read it halfway through my first glass and have now put whiskey in back of cupboard so not to be consumed in one night
Tough day at work today. Started at 8am with a brisk walk through the snow and ended at 8pm with BF waiting for me in the car while I finished a huge report. I didnt get a proper break all day so headed to buy junk food. Last year I would have stopped at the ciggie counter too but I figured a few whiskey and cokes was better than nothing.

So a £20 Tesco spend and the heating is now back on as its so flippin cold!!!! Not my finest MFW hour.

Does this mean you would stand on street corners with a clipboard asking questions? I would be terrified and give up the first time someone was rude to me. However your friend has the perfect idea. Friday night wine fueled focus groups sound like my kind of fun :rotfl:

Hehe LilyP, there will be no standing on street corners with a clipboard, I hope. I need to find 'volunteers' that meet certain criteria to do each assignment. (There was an old lady called Cath, who used to do market research, she used to ring up and say do you meet "a,b,c" criteria? Right I will call round after work tomorrow? Some were very good payers, both for the person filling in the questionnaire and the market research agent.
I would struggle with the standing on street corners, but if at a push an alcohol fuelled Friday night focus group was required, I would relish that opportunity! :rotfl: with  do you live close to me Lilyp? Would you like to join us? :T

The alcohol was a lack of lunch hour exhausted splurge, at least there is whiskey and coke in the cupboard, so there is less likely hood of that happening again!

Keep smiling, today is another day.

Another volunteer lily - E Mids with forays to Herts & Buck here :D.

I used to do MS - standing on the corner and clipboards at the ready . Was not a bad payer (especially if you managed to get some overlappping so if the person didn't meet one criteria they may be ok for another).

Focus groups were the best though - never had many but great around election time, £50 a go (in 1992???) and managed 3 in 1 night :T.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

I am more southern but occasionly in Bucks - possible MFW focus group forming there:rotfl:I would love to meet some people from this board. You are an inspirational bunch!

Very up and down day here and its only half two. BFs work have been having lots of secret management meetings and they finally revealed today that they are restructuring and all employees will have to reapply for their jobs. BFs job has gone but there seems to be a slightly senior post he can apply for. Waiting for him to come home to fill me in properly :(

Also I think our washing machine has had it. Sounded like a car coming through the kitchen wall at the end of the cycle and big puddles everywhere. New machine will have to come out of my poor savings account. No idea about washing machines so if anyone has any tips please feel free to pass them on.

The silver lining came in a £400 southern electric bill from over a year ago that had landed on the doormat. Called expecting a battle over where the bill had come from but turns out they were wrong and they actually owe me £50. That can go in the washing machine fund!:T
Day off - spent £20 on boring things like loo roll this morning and spent the afternoon photgraphing stuff to Ebay. Now have a relaxing cup of tea and I am going to treat myself to reading through some MFW diaries. :kisses3:
  • :-( oh no, I detest washing machines, I had a mahoosive leak in the kitchen, but as I was at work, managed not to spot it for quite a while. Got a Bosch replacement (thanks to dad) but there was some ridiculous free 3 year extended warranty with it, so it worked out, after cashback, about £50 a year, if it only lasts the 4 year that the warranty covers it.

Well done LilyP for having such a productive day off! Hope bf gets his senior position in the restructure, a bit more to add to the overpayment.

My bf has been at the freeman hospital today, his sibling is in need of a bone marrow transplant, he has been up today to discuss what is involved to determine if he is a match. I tried to tell him it's a painless procedure, as he is petrified of hospitals. He hasn't returned or even responded to my call, so he must be really spooked, or just gone back to work to make up the missed hours. Fingers crossed all will be well.

Hope the eBay bits all come good, every little helps.

Well lilyP, since I first started reading your diary back in November, I have been making op's on my own mortgage. It's not a huge amount, £200 a month, but it does give a buzz. I think I am getting a bit obsessed though, it's reminiscent of the tesco double the difference days.

Your poor BF and his sibling. My mum is a huge supporter of the Anthony Nolan trust and I am very ashamed that I have never put myself forward as a donor. I really should. Fingers crossed he is a match and they get better soon.

Andi Lou do you have your own diary? I cant see one. You are doing better than me. Was hoping to pay off £2000 this month but had to use some savings money to help BF family over Xmas and now I will probably have to dip in again for a washing machine. If BF job works out we should have a little more but I know he will spend most of it. I still have no idea how he spends so much each month. He is supposed to be saving his receipts this month so he can demonstrate he spends it all on petrol ;)

Are Bosch not as good as their reputation then? Have never bought a washing machine before. Have not a clue what to get!

We decided washing machine was mega urgent and so did a quick look around online and bought one for £280. I used Quidco for the first time and there should be £6 cashback (or does that get eaten up in admin?) which was quite exciting.

BF in stitches when I tried to pay the balance on my Barclaycard only to remember I have a tiny credit limit of £260. Begging lady on phone to up amount by £20 just for a night and computer said no. BF thinks its hilarious that I have so little but I only normally spend £100 or so each month and that is just so I can try to improve my credit rating.

Managed to not touch savings and take it out of my current account but that leaves me with very few pennies for the rest of the week :(
