:rotfl:yeah that just about sums it up.:rotfl:
He is better about giving into temptation than me. I am the one who succumbs to fags, wine and takeways after a tough day. Which makes it even more confusing what he does with it.0 -
Fairly uneventful day at work. Work days are nearly always NSD as I dont tend to get home until 8pm, we get a free (unhealthy)lunch provided and I walk there although BF has been kindly picking me up recently as the walk home is a bit dark and scary.
However some numpty has decided we are dressing up for Children In Need and that we are having an office pyjama day on Friday. None of my pjs are fit for wearing to work so I now have to go purchase some more. Still at least I get a nice pair of pjs.
Yesterday I bought a bottle of Sainsburys 88p apple shampoo hoping that BF would use it instead of mine. Used it myself this morning and is lovely. Have been swooshing my head all day and feeling smugly frugal.
Itching to make another payment to the ISA. Working a little over time this week so that will be a few more quid next Friday plus Ebay doing well.
Meeting with accountant on Thursday. Hoping and praying for good news.0 -
I set the budgets and by my calculations he should have £400 play money a month - thats not inc petrol, lunch or food at all.
Tbh that sounds pretty generous. Mrs E and I earn about £3k/mth between us and we get £335 a month including lunches and all other 'snack' food that we eat out of the house. I think we're loosely trying to stay within 20% of our salary for fun stuff.0 -
He earns £1500 a month after tax and about half of that goes on mortgage and bills etc. The rest is for petrol, food and fun. He is currently still paying off his cc - should be sorted by second mortgage - but that was only £115 this month. It doesnt make sense but I wont press him until we are all sorted.
He really is trying bless him.0 -
Tell him it's more than the other boys are getting and he'll need to make do :rotfl:0

Haha brilliant!! Sadly he will still tell me hes capable of looking after his finances and then not be able to buy me a Christmas present next month as he will run out of cash around the 12th.Nevermind hes very lovely in other ways and I used to be far far worse with money so there is plenty of hope for him :j:smileyhea

Evening fellow MFWs, BF has told me off for talking about money too much so ive come on here to tell you all instead
Another NSD for me but BF was naughty and bought fags after a stressful day at work. Grrr. I dont think i can shout as I have been guilty of this a lot recently but I just got my head around quitting and had been such a good girl. Now feel all smokey and gross
One of our solicitors is being a pain in the backside about the mortage and slowing the process right down. I am managing to keep HMRC baliff at arms length for now. Off to see my accountant tomorrow so hoping for low final figures.
I am so so proud of my progress. In a few weeks I should have over £2000 saved inc the money in my mums account. I have a feeling it may all get wiped out when sorting out the debt but I have to remember that I achieved it once, I can do it again and then I have to keep doing it! :money:0 -
Very stressful morning. Accountant says he isnt ready to see me and sign everything off but he doesnt think we owe too much which is good news. Barclays have agreed to partial settlements which means that we should scrape through with the £50,000 mortgage paying off everything but not have anything left. I still find it hard to believe we are that much in debt. Ultra scary.
Have left message with HMRC baliff so hopefully they will be happy to hang on a bit longer.
Threw away fags last night but bought some more this morningForgot to buy any food so living off cups of tea and nicotine and now feel rubbish. Very cross with myself and feeling so sad

Today feels like a bit of a write off. Spent the following:
Fags 7.99
Car parking 1.30
Pyjamas for tomorrow 7.00
Getting solicitor to witness stuff 5.00
Xmas wrapping paper 1.00
Food 25.00
Thats nearly £50However the food shop earned me some brownie points as I was so tempted by a takeaway but made smoked salmon pasta and bought us some beers instead. £8 of that was 12 days worth of cat food and I bought fresh pasta on offer (one bag in the freezer) and beer was on offer too
I also paid off £200 of my old overdraft - one of the few debts that is still being charged interest.
Working for pretty much 2 weeks straight from tomorrow. Trying to think of the money0 -
I try to avoid going into town now (mostly because of the crazy parking charges) but I had to today and I really noticed how much my attitude had changed. A year or so ago I would wandered in and out of my favourite clothes shops, maybe have tried something on and been really tempted if I loved something. Now I just walk around amazed at all the stuff you can buy which you dont need. I could actually do with some new pjs. I only went to Primark for them and found the cutest pair I really love. But I still really resent having to buy them.
Its not just the spending of money. The world produces so much each year and the enviromental impact is huge. My entire house is furnished from second hand stuff mostly bought from the local tip or Emmaus store. I love painting furniture. Watching Kirsties vintage home now and feel a need to get my paintbrushes out. We are going to decorate our living room in the new year and I am so excited.0
