    Hello hello hello.

I've been absent for a bit too long. Thank you so much for all the well wishes.

DD arrived in January. 10 days late and took her time getting out of there with a bit of forceps help in the end but she is worth it all. We are very smitten with our little bundle of joy and she is taking up a lot of our time. Best thing I have ever done. Life is wonderful and I can't wait to do it all again and give her a brother or sister.

Financially we have been dreadful and we have been taking stock of the situation today. We have decided we want to work towards our dream house. BF is going to carry on earning our day to day living costs and I am in charge of the extras. There is the small matter of me wanting to retrain but we will deal with that once I figure out how I want to approach it.

Mortgage wise things are promising. We have both had some small inheritances have come our way. I have been able to pay 5k off mortgage 1 bringing it down to 35k and BF is expecting 10k from his grandfathers will. We are unsure whether to pay off the car with that or put it onto the mortgage. BF has had a small pay rise but also they discovered they had never added on his last pay rise so a nice lump sum hit the bank which we are putting towards a holiday.

So I'm back and motivated again. Looking forward to catching up with everyone's diaries. I've missed this place :)

    Congratulations :T.

    Thanks GG :j

I love reading back through to the beginning of my diary. BF and I were at odds, totally confused about what we wanted and how to get it. To be honest I think we nearly broke up a few times. Things are so different now. We are a lovely family unit and he is an amazing father.

We spent the day with his mum who is still poorly but hanging on in there and totally devoted to get granddaughter. We took DD out for a walk in her new buggy. BF managed to get a Phil and Teds for an absolute steal on EBay I'm still not convinced by it as baby never seems to lie flat and she can't face us but BF adores it. I know we can sell it for double what we paid so I'm not overly concerned.

MIL bought DD lots of practical clothes which I am very grateful for as we have been given a million cute outfits but she spends most of the time in vests and baby grows which no one ever buys. Seriously has anyone ever actually dressed their child in booties? We have about 12 pairs but no need to wear them. I have decided to sell some of her gifts on EBay and use the money to buy stuff she actually needs. I feel terrible as we were overwhelmed with the love and kindness people showed when she was born. People we had never met were sending us presents. But I have so much unused stuff and I don't know what else to do with it.

Must get some sleep before my 4am wake up call. Bless her she is so good and nearly sleeps through. If she could just make it to 6am it would be perfect.

Had a nice day today. DD and I mooched about in the morning watching Homes under the hammer (researching for our future property empire) before heading into town for cake with our anti natal friends. I also finally paid in the load of cash that has been sat in the nursery for ages. A combination of gifts for us and DD plus some inheritance. £1225 in total. We are going to put £200 to start a bank acc for DD and then pay in £20 a month after that until she is 18. However figured we may as well take advantage of Halifaxs 6% rate and top it up with our own savings to the max amount.

The rest of today's money us going to top up our savings as we have spent a huge amount the last few months. We have been really good at getting stuff second hand but we have found that we have often had to rush out and buy stuff last minute plus nappies, wipes and countless takeaways have really added up.

We still have some big purchases to make. I want to try washable nappies and if DD is happy in them that's a big spend although cheaper in the long run. I'm going to buy them new as hopefully they will last through to a second child. I also need a new phone and I am being stubborn and wanting an IPhone. Plus our blender is on the blink and we have been saying for ages that when it goes we will invest in a vitamix. I use it every morning and it gets louder every day. I might, just might be overloading it a teensy bit in the hope it gives up sooner

So that's another grand at least :( but we can do these things in stages. We are back on track and that's the main thing.

Paid BF credit card bill as soon as it landed on the doormat. A whopping £600  considering he only uses it for food and petrol that is a huge amount. I honestly have no idea how he has spent so much. We have a weekly veg box and he survives on fish fingers and Chips mostly. He does have a bit of a Nicorette habit that costs as much as smoking. He insists he can't quit them which I find hard to understand because I think they are revolting and have never used stop smoking aids.

He is in a tired grumpy mood tonight so I will try to talk to him over the weekend. If we don't rain in our spending we are going to be in big trouble :(

Hello, I've just been looking at the start of the diary, and the fast forwarded to the most recent entries - you've certain come a long way since the beginning.

I've just started a diary this week, and I'm hoping to look back on it in a few years time, to see how I was doing in 2014. I think we remember the big events, but a diary adds all the little details that we'd forget otherwise.

Congratulations on the new addition to your family
