Urgh why is it when you are ill all thriftiness goes out of the window. Feeling sick and refusing fridge full of veggies so have sent bf to shop to get tomato soup in a can for lunch plus stuff for dinner and a lemon to make hot toddies. Roast veggies and halloumi for tea tonight though as failed to have it last night.

Have just returned from homebase with a new toolbox, a giant tub of white emulsion and a testerpot so we can get cracking on the nursery. I would rather have shopped around for the toolbox but was so pleased bf suggested it was happy to just say yes. Until now we have been using a rucksack and risk cutting off a limb every time you try to find something in it. We had £25 vouchers from my work so the whole transaction cost us £14 so not so bad. Bf has just returned and only spent £7 so we are still happily within our weekly allowance.

Got bf to check mortgage 2 this morning and we are just above £48k. Had another chat about consolidating both mortgages into one. Bf wants to investigate further which is fine by me. I know he will never get around to it :rotfl: and even if he does and finds us something more viable then great.

I'm off to have an afternoon feeling sorry for myself on the sofa with a hot lemon and honey. Happy weekend everyone

Up and down day pottering around the house while BF went to see his mum. Spent £12 in sainsburys on ingredients for apple cake but they were all baking top up for the cupboard so didn't mind as much. Need to remember to go back and collect nectar points as BF had the card. Has anyone else had problems getting a second card from Nectar? We have asked 3 times now and never got one.

Actually baked said apple cake and did 2 loads of washing while the weather was so nice. Am looking at investing in one of the heated airers mentioned in another thread. Our house can get really cold and damp in winter so any help in the laundry department will be worth it's weight in gold.

I think the cat is becoming ill:(. She gets these gunky eyes and this can develop into cat flu if she is run down or stressed. Hoping we don't need a vet visit. This month we started a little savings pot for her on top of insurance of £10 a month to help with cost of annual injections etc but I can't see a tenner getting us very far.

How could I forget. I listed 10 things on eBay which is the first time for ages. Was a bit high on the prices as FLW but it's always worth a gamble. Fingers crossed some of it sells.

You've done so much better than me :j I only got to 7 items, I was high ish on the prices too, but as you say, it's flw! :T I just didn't get started until after X factor!

Well done on the £10 a month, for vaccinations. Anything extra needed could come out of the emergency fund!

You've reminded me, I must get foxy insured, we went through bank statements, damn online banking, £5k+ since a year gone Christmas. Merlins biopsy and Henry barkers colitis were the main expenses. But they are worth every penny!

Hello everyone :j I was beginning to think I was writing to myself which is fine but it's lovely to have some readers.

Yes virgin hot toddy with lemon and honey and sometimes a little grated ginger. Heavenly when feeling poorly.

We both seem to be feeling better. I gave the cat a hot water bottle last night and we are having a quick blast of the heating before bed now. So fingers crossed no vet bills. £5k sounds a terrifying amount to spend at the vets but I agree worth every penny. Now cat is 8 we decided we didn't want any tough decisions so insured and her own savings pot in hope that it's enough.

Went to an anti natal class after work so just more tinned tomato soup as a quickie dinner. Fridge still full of veggies. Frugality has gone a bit wrong this week. I shall try to salvage what I can tomorrow.

Have worked out that there is no difference between over paying mortgage 1 and saving money in Santander. This is fab news as I won't feel tempted to op out of emergency savings which we may well need over the next few years. Going to save as hard as I can until situation changes and then we can make a decision how much to op at the time. Still oping £50 a month to keep my Dad happy so something extra is going off each month.

So tired and head is full of facts on giving birth. Night night xx

I will try a virgin hot toddy with ginger I think, just honey and lemon sounds too much like the tea they keep trying to get me to drink at work!

How are you finding your anti-natal class lilyp?
