Go Lily Go - Paying off the mortgage

Hi Lily
In my first proper job I worked with a woman who was a right b*tch and it was very cliquey. I did the same as you... Kept my head down, looked for something better, got my cv etc ready and when a good opportunity came along I left and never looked back. If you start looking out and preparing, your chance to move on will come along shortly!!!"Never underestimate the power of small amounts"

Have been a bit quiet lately, there has been lots going on but not much that is saving money.
£200 monthly payment has gone in. Not much hope of raising big funds this month as its BFs birthday and I have to sort out my poor bank account. We have agreed that we will only buy a £15 gift for birthdays this year but add £50 to the holiday fund on the others birthday. Still haven't decided where to go and we really need to get something booked. We have such different tastes but BF hasn't travelled much whereas I have. We do agree we need a mix of culture and downtime on a beach and we are both adamant we do not want some package all inclusive deal at a hotel. A nice self catering apartment would do us fine. Any suggestions?
Mortgage 1 will go out with its £150 op attached in a few days. So glad we are doing something to reduce it right now.
Oh and despite tummy pains and weird nausea feelings a few days ago 3 pregnancy tests have been negativeTomorrow should be time of the month so if it hasn't arrived by Monday I will do a test that isn't Sainsburys own just to quadruple check :rotfl:but I think it was no joy this month. Was quite surprised at my sadness at the negatives - sat staring at the stick hoping for a faint second line. Fingers crossed for next time

Hi Lily, sorry to hear work is so hard, I had similar situation a few years ago, and it is awful to take negative feelings home every day. no job is worth that stress. I recently cut my hours by changing jobs, and couldn't see how we would manage. But also managed to take on a small part time job that makes up my wages and it is amazing how cash stretches.

LilyP, £150 op is still a considerable op! And the last two months you have excelled yourself, so don't be too despondent!

Hey Lilyp. I just wanted to pop in and say sorry about your job. It's a lot of hours each week to be unhappy. I do agree with your OH, live is too short. A pay cut would be rubbish but you can't put a price on your health. If you can survive on a lower wage ( and you seem to be fab with money!) then maybe you should consider it? Don't worry about having skills, personality is much more important! Apply for stuff in your wage range and wow themMortgage starting balance 2011 ... £170k today £1.5k

Hi everyone,
So quite a bit has happened since my last post.
On Monday morning with still no visit from the monthly fairy I did another pregnancy test and nearly fell off the loo in shock when two lines appeared. Told BF who was thrilled and then spent all day at work in a state of shock wondering which tests were accurate. When I got home BF had bought me one of those fancy Clear Blue ones which confirmed 2-3 weeks pregnant.
A bit of a rollercoaster of emotions but now I have told a few friends and relaxed I am starting to get excited. A long way to go until the 12 week safety marker.
BF and I have decided not to discuss anything until we hit 12 weeks although I am already planning how we will afford this and trying to raise money for the Emergency / Baby fund which we will now have to use.
We did a carboot this morning and cleared loads of junk and made £100 and Ebay has also done well. I need to transfer the cash to the ISA but im too tired tonight.0 -

Thanks everyone:D
Wow morning sickness (or all night sickness in my case) is not fun. Have been suffering a bit and not really done much. I cannot stomach anything healthy so have no idea how this baby is getting the nutrients it needs. Still we are 8 weeks now and soldiering on.
Not much to report. Have added in some Ebay and Carboot monies but not a great month. Another £200 from Grandma is on its way but I will add that in next month.0
