Go Lily Go - Paying off the mortgage

To be fair, doesn't sound as though you have much competition :rotfl:
:rotfl: no I don't. A few years ago she gave us all a couple of grand. One cousin bought an engagement ring for a gf who left him (and took the ring) a week later and the Hello Kitty cousin bought a load of Star Wars memorabilia if I remember rightly.
A NSD yesterday which was nice. I was working but it was our 3 year anniversary and as a present BF had had my bike fixed which I am thrilled about as it has been living a sad life in the garage for the last year. We are going out tonight to celebrate to our favourite restaurant.
Lots of Ebay items ending some doing well, some not so well. Waiting for a few people to pay me. Have discovered MyHermes which seems to be a bit cheaper than RM for some parcels. It is also so much easier to drop them off rather than queuing at the grumpy post office before work.
Have a fabulous but frugal day everyone xx0 -
Whoops that ended up an expensive day. It is our first anniversary where we have had any money free to spend so we decided to say sod it for a day and enjoyed ourselves on my credit card. Have probably spent £150 on a day out and a meal and rather a lot of alcohol at our favourite restaurant but it was totally worth it and really nice to spend some time together.
I am on training tomorrow which is extra money so all that will be going towards paying off todayI promise to go back to being good now

Not much to report apart from a payment of £24.66 into the savings pot from Ebay sales. Cannot wait for my wages to go in tomorrow. Fingers crossed I can have a very cheap week so I wont have to dip into the savings pot for bills.0

I only just saw itthanks so much. Definitely need all the help I can get with things like that.
I am pleased with March - I might even hit my target of £500 a month which is very hard for me to do. It was mostly helped along by the unexpected £200 but even so. Pleased with myself0 -
Have developed some crazy notion about retraining as a dietician. Spent a helpful hour on the phone to a careers advisor today. Seems I have 3 options:
- Ditch everything, go to uni and live off meagre grants and loans
- Do an OU general healthcare degree and either bankrupt myself to do it or move to any other UK country because it would be a quarter of the price
- See if I can find work as a dietetic assistant and train that way - cant see any such jobs
I really wish I had taken myself seriously a few years ago when I first thought about doing this and didn't listen to the people who scoffed "you doing science!" But what is done is done. I was on a training course yesterday and we had to tell someone we didn't know about our lives. The chap I was chatting to was astounded by how much I had crammed into my 20s. I guess I have an awful lot I want to do in the last 6 years of my 30s. I give you my list:- Pay off both mortgages
- Have 2 children
- Run the London Marathon
- Train as and become a dietician
No idea why I just told you all that. This was supposed to be a little post to say I spent £6 on curry ingredients for dinner and another £10 Ebay profit gone into the pot. Night night xxxx0 -
[/LIST]If anyone works in the field any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Night night xxxx
Lily,
I have no idea about training as a dietician? I presume NHS jobs or maybe "sector1" would be the best place to look for such jobs.
Up until 6 years ago, I was in a reasonably well paid job. I had a 60+ mile round trip to work each day! But I had no idea, about budget/savings or overpaying mortgages! With the things I have learnt over the past few years, everything is do-able. Those lessons learnt, will stay with me for a lifetime. :money:
I suppose I am saying, if it's what you want to do! It can be done! Think of it as a journey to scotland. The only decision to be made, is (drive/train or bus) which way you get there? :T]Mortgage 1. At start £46,000, may 1996 jan 11 £27363.58  Dec 11 £25,289.00 December 12 £21,882.68

The only problem is that I really need to get to Scotland before I reach 40 and I don't know if there is a route fast enough :rotfl:
A NSD and a few Ebay items are doing pretty well. I have a non payer who is messing up my lovely spreadsheet but its only for a few quid.
Have decided that if and when BF gets his promotion we shall overpay £50 each on mortgage 1 which should work out as a £150 monthly op as we already op this a bit. This would leave me free to still save money in my ISA for emergency pot and extra over paying. Im off to play with the op calculator and see how much this would save us before approaching BF with the idea0 -
Evening everyone :j
Ebay items ending in the next few days and only a few have bids but those that do seem to be doing pretty well. Even with Ebay and Paypal fees I should make my £500 OP pot target this month providing everyone pays on time. Very excited.
At work all day. Another NSD. When I got back BF had made me chickpea burgers with fresh salad and homemade granary bread rolls. Lovely BF :A
I keep trying to read everyones diaries on here and there are so many I cant keep up. They are all so inspiring. Martin should edit them and make them into a book:money:
Anyway night night everyone xx0 -
So sleepy. I love Monday nights. BF goes to bed and watches boring stuff on his Ipad and the cat and I snuggle upon the sofa together with lots of blankets and watch trash like Revenge and The Biggest Loser USA. I don't have to work tomorrow so its a bit like a Friday night for me.
Another NSD and lots of Ebay stuff ending tonight and tomorrow. Should be able to update my spreadsheet and more importantly transfer some money into the pot. Really hoping everyone pays up asap.
Sweet dreams everyone xx0
