I wanna buy one, but i'm too worried about the electric, but i guess if you keep checking the electric meter whilst the slow cooker is on, you will soon know if it uses a lot of electric
Oh a question? When you throw everything in it to cook, do you not have to stir occasionally?0 -

On a low setting a slow cooker typically uses about the same amount of power as a light bulb.
Edit: Even on high power it will use way less power than is needed to heat up a great big oven.
No stirring - not reccommended because it lets in cool air and slows the cooking down. Most recipes that need a stir say that you should do it in the last half hour or so depending on the recipe.
Hope that helpsHi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. I had a look on the NPower website and it said that using a slow cooker for 8 hours would use up 1 unit of electricity. Didn't mention about the heat setting though.
