    Hiya :)

That's a brand name for a ready made mix. There's an explanation and a "make your own" recipe supplied here:-

    bisquick described

    HTH :)

link to a free ebook download with 1300 slow cooker recipes, i just downloaded it and it seems ok

Thanks Wendy_ann1983, I also downloaded this, dont think I'll print it all out, will copy n paste into different sections and use that way.

Made me laugh when reading through some of the recipes as they describe the *CROCKPOT* as a *CRACKPOT*, my OH and I had really good giggle at that! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
    :p PinkPunkBird :p
  • i tried cutting and pasting and it wouldnt let me, if you manage it can you let me know, getting fed up using magnifying glass to read them lol
  • well the pork i brought 2 days ago that looked lovely... not so lovely, just cut it in half (half for freezer hlf for todays casserole) and its grey in the middle (use by is today but that makes no difference imo), lovely and pink on the outside, grey in the middle, thought this was a bit weird so rang mum (they always know these things) she said it not supposed to be like that so rang CS and they said hmmm no its not supposed to look like that, tell you what ill give you £7 of points on your nectar card (joint was £5) taking it back to sainsburys in a bit to get it swapped as well. so glad i did cut in half and not just roast.

so now im doing another beef casserole, but with a twist, its cooked in pork casserole mix.

im out for dinner tonight so its down to the OH to try, he eats anything so should be ok.
  • Hi Everyone :hello:

Just a quick note about something I read on this thread about putting things into SC hot - I never do that (unless recipe calls for casserole mix to be made with hot water..)

I prep my meat and veg in the evening, add the liquid and leave overnight. I then switch the SC onto auto before I go to work. It cooks away for about 9 hours til I get home and its always been fine. Mind you, I have a dehumidifier which I leave on in the kitchen to stop my flat doing a impression of a steam room :rotfl:

I live on my own and often use the powder casserole mixes - I get about 3 or 4 meals out of one of them, which isn't bad.

  • Having looked at some of the recipes on here ,I wonder why Martin or one of his many cohorts don't publish a book of slow-cooker recipes .The ones here have all been tried and tested by 'real' people ,not the fancy chefs from posh hotels or restaraunts.
I for one would be happy to buy it

Hi can anyone help me find the curry sauce recipe by Curry Queen?, i have looked in the blue indexed section and i cant see it there. From what i can remember it was a sauce that you could make and then you could use it in lots of different currys.
If someone knows the link that would be great - thanks

Ahh, just found it on page 36

  • my slow cooker is the durabrand 1.8l, small but enough for me and the OH with a bit left over, it has low, high and auto, the instruction book is rubbish, what is the auto setting for?

ive just been using low for most of cooking and high for the last hr or so, is this a bad idea?
