    Hi
i`ve been using foil in the sc for ages and have never had a problem with it coming apart or tainting food.
I use the really cheap thin foil too, go ahead you shouldn`t have any problems.

    Hi
I'll know for future reference, I went and put the sc on with the pork and forgot about the potatoes anyway! Never mind, will try next time.
In saying that I remember doing something similar with corn on the cobs in foil, they were nice with barbecued chicken thighs.

    Thanks
    Yvonne

    Hi all,
i just wrapped the potatoes in foil after washing them, left them still wet and put them in,they were sort of jacketty tasting if you know what i mean, i left the skins on but next time i think i might add a bit of butter to the skins before wrapping them.
Someone else posted the butter idea a while ago and i`d forgotten about it.
I suppose they would have been more traditional tasting if i had dried them before wrapping as the skins were soggy when they were cooked but still lovely.

  • just got back from sainsbury's they had quite a bit of meat on offer so i got

    2pks lean diced casserole steak
    pork loin joint
    chicken fillets
2pks of special sausages (the ones with 90%ish meat)

also had carrots and oniond on buy 2 packs for £1 so got one of each
and a pack of nice organic spuds

    anyway was thinking

    beef casserole
pork casserole (will half the joint and roast the other bit)
    barbecue chicken

any idea how long these take in the slow cooker without browning the meat first?

and if i freeze leftovers can they be heated ok in the microwave?

and one last q, any idea what to do with the other beef?
  • its taken two days but ive finally made it through this thread and copied loads of recipes

    :)

I'm lazy (and cheap)... I have the thread bookmarked and only print out a recipe on the day that I am definitely going to make the whateveritis. That way I don't have zillions of bits of paper about that are printed with "Ohh I fancy that!" but then never quite get around to doing.

But yes, you're right, a great thread. It has its own Index too...

  • yeah i looked at that but you can bring that down a bit by putting more entries per page, cant rememebr off hand how to do it (was just presing anything) or how many pages it came down to

bit annoying that in adobe it cant be edited
  • just checked adn if you put 9 entries per page its about 91 pages or 16 entries epr page its 52 (still quite a lot though)
  • wow, glad i got a laser printer, just printed them off at 16 per page, the writting is small but readable but for some reason when you get part way through it the font goes even smaller, magnifying glass time
