I love my slow cooker...here's a nice Chicken recipe

1 - 2 lbs chicken breast, four carrots, a bunch of spring onions, 5oz Philadelphia Cheese, a tin of cream of chicken, (or mushroom soup) two tablespoons dry sherry...(or wine) seasoning.

Cube or chop everything, put it all in the same order as above, mix well, cover and cook on low for 7- 9 hours.

you dont need to add any water at all, theres plenty of fluid in the tomatoes if it does look like it needs more just add another can of toms they are only dirt cheap anyway i only use the white label cheapies.

for beef stew/casserole brown off two packs of stewing beef in frying pan and bung in sc with a couple of chopped onions, 2 or 3 oxo cubes and cover with water or a can of ale + water. turn it on low in the morning then early afternoon chuck in any veg you have ie sliced carrot/peas/mushrooms and let it cook, about 10 or 15 mins before you want to serve up you can thicken up the gravy by putting a couple of teaspoons of cornflour in a glass with a dash of water, mix it up and throw it in sc give it a quick stir and leave it to thicken up whilst you are mashing your spuds ;):D oh and dont forget the dumplings! or if you leave out the veggies (carrots/peas) this is a great base for a steak mushroom and ale pie, just buy some ready made puff pastry and cut out to fit your baking dish, brush with egg and serve with plenty of homemade chips yummm
proper prior planning prevents !!!!!! poor performance! :p

    Hiya
Don't know if this recipe would freeze well cos of the cream cheese. This gives 6-8 servings in a big slow cooker.

This one would freeze no bother, for 6.5 slow cooker

    2lbs stewing steak
    One carrot
    One chopped onion
    3-4 tablespoons flour
    1 12oz can beer
1 packet of French Onion or Oxtail packet soup (or use 2 Batchelors cup a soup packs)
    Bovril

Put the flour in a plastic bag, add salt and pepper, chuck in the beef and shake it till the beef is coated. Drink the beer. (NO!!!! Joking) Mix ALL the beer, the packet soup and the bovril. Put the beef, carrot and onion in the slow cooker, pour over the gravy, mix well and cook on low for 8 hours.

If you have plenty herbs in your spice rack, try this one
    2lbs stewing steak
    2 tablespoons flour
    2 tablespoons butter
    2 sticks celery, chopped
    One onion, chopped
Quarter pint Oxo or Bovril mixed with water
Good shake of thyme, marjoram and oregano
2 teaspoons french mustard (or dijon, not English)
    2 tablespoons lemon juice

Brown the beef cubes in the butter in a frying pan. Place everything APART from the lemon juice in the cooker, cover and cook on low 6-8 hours. Stir in lemon juice just before serving
