Does anyone have any mattress recommendations?
*Please* go somewhere you can try before you buy! Mrs E and I spent £300+ on a top of the range thick mattress with oodles of memory foam and more technology than our car. It's too firm...
I loved your MSE birthday, very trendy! Did you look at the difference between:
N@tionwide/Spanish/H@lifax/Spanish and
Nationwide/Spanish/H@lifax/FD/Spanish?
I ask as the nominal rule of thumb quoted for stoozing (i.e. using interest free credit cards to make interest) is to assume half of the stated interest rate if you're building a balance over time.
Would be curious to see whether 3% constant is better than 6% regular (suspect that it might be close)?0 -

Thanks, I read about firm/medium etc and I'm just like  I think you have to feel it, it's just getting time for me and OH both to go look. And then prices seem so variable, from 100-1000 pounds!!! Confusing.
And yes Ed, that's the drip-feeding technique I linked to, the difference between the Spanish-FD technique compared to just Spanish is an extra £58 a year.0 -

I can't believe I spreadsheeted something that already had a free online solution :mad:0 -
I have opened up a SpanishBankNumber account (shall we say) for the 3% interest and cashback on bills, cashback I've worked out should be over a £5. The bulk of the money will sit there, then that shall drip-feed a FD regular saver paying 6% at £300 a month. The money shuffle will also go through a H@lifax Rewards account for the £5 a month.
Confused yet?
Nope. Have you a NWide FlexD (5% up to 2.5k)? I do:
1500 S123 > FD
Drop off 300
1200 FD > H
Drop off 30 (2 x 15 DD's)
1170 H > NW FlexD
Then various bits & pieces get moved out from there (inc 2 x 250 NW reg saver at 6%, finishes this month) and some goes back to S123. And breathe :rotfl:.

It's actually not just firmness you need to take into account but support. So you can have a relatively soft mattress that actually has good support. Make sure you go for pocket sprung rather than open coil.
:rotfl:Ed :rotfl:A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

Yeah, the only thing I wasn't sure with about that, is that I already have a NW FlexD account, and have been getting the 5% for nearly a year. The year is about the run out, not sure if I can apply for another one since I've had one already? It's actually not just firmness you need to take into account but support.
