Who will it be Romney or Obama?

Just noticed that the red/blue bars allocated to Obama and Romney in the poll heading Thread are the reverse of their party colours[and I have to remember, too. Blue doesn't associate itself naturally with me]

Great victory speech by Obama. The Republicans are a white male dominated party that hold no attraction to huge swathes of society including women, young people, the Hispanics, Latinos, African Americans etc. Obama offered hope and opportunity for everyone. Romney believes in trickle down economics which will spread wealth to the disadvantaged..... presumably guided by his exclusive gentlemans club.
This is what the Republicans have to address if they want to get the presidency again. The exit polls are particularly interesting:
By age group
18-29 19% of turnout 60% Obama 37% Romney
30-44 27% of turnout 52% Obama 45% Romney
45-64 38% of turnout 47% Obama 51% Romney
65+ 16% of turnout 44% Obama 56% Romney
Racial Group
White 72% of turnout 39% Obama 59% Romney
Black 13% of turnout 93% Obama 6% Romney
Hispanic/Latino 10% 71% Obama 27% Romney
Asian 3% of turnout 73% Obama 26% Romney
Women Voters
55% Obama 43% Romney
Religion
Those who went to 3 or more religious services/meetings a week 60% Romney
Those who never attend religious services/meeting 60% Obama
Putting economic policies aside for a moment, the Republicans need to rebuild their party by asking how they can be seen to be more inclusive. You can't win elections by chasing an ever smaller, ageing demographic. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? There's a bit of an argument breaking out on CNN between a blonde woman and a brunette about why Romney has lost. It's either because he's out of touch or because women hate him. They can't decide so they've switched to a bloke now.
I heard one commentator say taht a large number of women just don't believe what he says [STRIKE]- guess they aren't from Essex.[/STRIKE] especially on abortion."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

That is a stunning display of misinformation, ignorance or mendacity, even for you.
Even the US left doesn't dispute that the corruption in US elections is mostly centred around Democrat supporting unions.
Right now Matt Drudge is reporting that UN Inspectors are shocked that IDs aren't required for voting in US elections: (http://thecable.foreignpolicy.com/posts/2012/11/06/foreign_election_officials_amazed_by_trust_based_us_voting_system
And who opposes voter mandatory ID most strenuously? The Democrats.
It might help if you gathered some of your information about the USA from sources other than the BBC/Guardian.
Well golly gosh, apart from provisional ballots it all looks pretty similar to voting in the UK.
No id required, no police on the doors etc, your name has to be on the electoral roll (unless provisional ballot used) etc.
Ballots handled by local poll workers - yep, exactly the same as the UK.
Why are people in favour of mandatory ID - it couldn't possibly be to disenfranchise poor non whites could it ?
I'm looking foward to playing the looney right bingo blame game today.
Left wing media, fraudulent voting, the illuminati, jews, blacks, hispanics, women and the Federal government will surely all appear in conspiracy theories about why Romney lost.
Even Mark Clattenburg might get a shout.US housing: it's not a bubble - Moneyweek Dec 12, 20050 -
Do we think that the BBC & Guardian will spend the next 4 years moaning about how Obama lost the popular vote?
I have my doubts that it'll get anything more than a passing mention.
I'm guessing that will be because Obama won the popular vote (again).
Could all be misinformation by those pesky lefties though.

To be fair, I wrote when Obama was a fair way behind in the popular vote and looked set to lose it while winning the actual contest at hand.
I think a general criticism of the BBC's coverage of US politics is fair. They try to portray leftist Democrats (by US standards) as the mainstream and everyone else as dangerous lunatics when it just isn't so. I enjoyed The West Wing but the main problem it had with credibility is that there is no way that America would vote in a Socialist like President Bartlet any more than they'd vote in Sarah Palin. In the BBC's universe, Jed Bartlet would be mainstream. In most Americans' universe, Jed Bartlet is a communist that should be prevented from holding power by all available means.0 -
#########################Indeed, it staggers me how much they spend on electioneering - not just in the US though, they get though a lot over here as well.
There have been some 'compare and contrast', sense of proportion spending stats given for other categories i.e Hallowe'en. They all dwarf the election spending of all candidates.
Now I must get on with prep. for demain@Spitalfields, avoiding the Lies/Statistics misquotes.

Perhaps the religious group isn't a shrinking demographic in the US but the aging part might be a problem unless US-ians tend to shift from Democrat to Republican candidates as they get older. People generally get richer as they get older and richer people supposedly vote more for Republicans.
The big problem America seems to have right now is that neither party will compromise with the other. That's not a way to run a civilised country, to have 2 political groups utterly divided. That's the way to end up with a Civil War.
The dumb poll I saw on CNN was thus.
Voting Amongst Liberals:
Obama: 89%
Romney: 11%
Can 11% of Liberals not spell Obama or are 11% of self-confessed Liberals illiberal?0 -
