where did we change our terms?
This is where we think you changed the terms, from June last year.
"
...
WHAT IS EMAILDIVERSION
EmailDiversion which is included in your package allows you to forward ANY mail that arrives to your domain to a single mailbox anywhere.
sales@yourdomain.co.uk
info@yourdomain.co.uk
account@yourdomain.co.uk
enquries@yourdomain.co.uk
etc. etc.
Your mail can either be forwarded to a FREE mailbox at UK2.NET or any other ISP or email service like HotMail, Screaming.net/Localtel, Freeserve, FreeUK, AOL, Demon, BT Internet, CompuServe, Easynet, Force 9, Cable & Wireless, MSN, ClaraNet etc. etc.
..."
The emboldened ANY in the quote is your emphasis, I read it as any number, you seem to read it as up to 5.

I think there is a bit of confusion here.
We still offer free email forwarding for up to five, that has not changed.
Chances are that you - like the majority of our clients - are not using the catch-all feature (perhaps you have never even heard of it) and you think that we would take away all email forwarding. No No No - that is not what we are doing, email forwarding (email diversion as it used to be called) still works, and you can forward any mail to any mail you like. You have up to five single email forwarders as always.
tnx
d.
How do we do this ? do we have to nominate the five and if so could you please explain where and how.
Thanks

Excuse me?
You're charged for ditching them?
Would that be like my credit card company charging me for cancelling their card after they decide to, for example, charge me an annual fee.
Or BT charging me for switching to the Post Office for my landline because the PO is cheaper or has better packages?Conjugating the verb 'to be":
-o I am humble -o You are attention seeking -o She is Nadine Dorries0 -
The most obvious comparison is a mobile phone operator charging you for taking your number with you.
With the difference in this case that you bought the number.
It could be worse, there were companies that when you bought a domain name registered it to themselves, so you would have to buy it to move.
The charge is a hazy recollection for me, I guess I will find out for sure soon

Firstly follow the instructions above to remove the auto-renew.
Then, from your Account Management area, go into one of your domains and click on E-mail forwarding and POP accounts. From there you'll be able to specify up to 5 addresses per domain..0 -

Thanks Dan,
Will look into this soon0 -
I can't believe UK2 are treating long standing customer in this way...I have emailed Ditlev a couple of times but he seemed to only choose to answer particular questions in my emails and certainly wasn't interested in trying to save customers that use the catch-all, and wasn't interested in a compromise such as giving a decent amount of free forwarders (say 100+ rather than the pathetic 5), or a small discount on the next renewal if users turn off catch all now.
He wasn't interested in the fact many of us have paid in advance for a service which was included in our domain registration (as has been proven in this thread with the archived web pages) and now UK2 decide to make this a chargable service at ridiculous rates compared to the overall domain reg fee!
The minimum they should do is honour what their customers have paid for and allow catch-all until the domain renewal is due...but UK2 don't seem very honourable over this matter IMO.
Anyway to my point, as it's really not worth talking about UK2 anymore as it's clear what they think...
If anyone is interested in moving I have just transfered my domain within about 12 hours from start to finish and at no cost.
I now use http://www.123-reg.co.uk/ who are part of Pipex (an ISP I used a few years ago) so they are a more reputable company IMO with sufficient resources to hopefully continue providing catch-all free for a long time.
Firstly I would make sure you cancel any auto-renew things with UK2 to make sure you dont get charged through the nose for catch all next month!
Then sign up with 123-reg (it's free to sign up), then you need to get UK2 to change the nominet TAG on your domain...do this as part of their move away online process... http://amail.co.uk/moveaway.htm The new tag should be 123-REG
Now I think depending on how long you have been with UK2 you may or may not be charged to move away..but after completing the move away forms the invoice for me showed zero (I had been with UK2 for about 6+ years I think). As I completed the forms I was twice asked to send a fax to confirm I was authorised to transfer my domain and give some proof of ID..but they listed 2 different fax numbers on different pages so I faxed a letter and photocopy of my drivers licence to BOTH fax number just in case.
I checked on the 123-reg domain checker shortly after sending the faxes and it showed 123 as the new agent (so atleast UK2 transfered out the domain much quicker than the quoted 7-14 days..but I guess they are happy to see me go as my catch-all email causes them so much grief!)
Then all I needed to do was complete the simple domain transfer form in my 123-reg control panel, which asks for the old tag which was UK2NET for my .co.uk domain. (I didn't keep existing name servers)
The good news for me is it's free to transfer .uk domains including .uk.com etc and there is no charge for hosting until your old UK2 renewal wuld be due which is November in my case! (costs about £10 for .com .net etc but 1st year registration is included I believe)
Once the transfer is done you can go to manage domain in the control panel and change the email forwarding setup. I selected the last option to "Forward mail sent to unknown users to the email address below" to forward all my messages to a single email address with my ISP.
Last step is to wave goodbye to UK2!!!!
sorry for such a long post but I though some ppl might be interested in a way to move away from a company intent on screwing it's faithful customers

NO charge from xxx to transfer in is what I expect, but I thought UK2 charge 12.99 + vat to leave.
I guess that will soften the blow of few thousand leaving

I still have some domains with uk2net, I also shall be moving to another supplier, possibly 123reg? Shame, but as with banks I think companies just rely on people being complacent and putting up with changes.0

From what I remember, I registered a domain for 2 years, then tried to transfer away near the end of the 2 years. There was a charge of £12.99 for this, and as the renewal was cheaper I reluctantly renewed. At the end of that 2 years I was able to transfer away at no cost.
Also, I've never yet sent a fax to them to confirm my identity and give authorisation for the domain to be transferred, but they still do it.
Incidentally, https://www.ukreg.com are the domain arm of fasthosts http://www.fasthosts.co.uk/, and they're pretty big. Not sure which FAQs chris_aaaaa was looking at, but they are dealt with via fasthosts Xtreme support and it's very comprehensive indeed. There's no charge to transfer in a domain name, and there's no web diversion banners or anything like that.
I think that 123-reg and fasthosts/ukreg are almost identical in their offerings, so either one should be OK to use. Like I've said before though, I'm staying away from pipex companies because of their irritating adverts, but that's just my personal view
Personally I'm amazed that UK2 have got away with charging for web diversion for so many years. Maybe it's because they get sucked in with the "free web diversion" offer on the front page, only to discover they have to pay to get rid of the banners, and by that time it's cheaper to do that than transfer away... technically UK2 aren't doing anything wrong, but I think morally it's a bit unfair. Still, it's a good way to make money!Te audire no possum. Musa sapientum fixa est in aure.0
