OMG am I up against it time wise today.
Skinty - don't do anything to put either of you at risk. I find HG mould spray excellent - homebase sell it £6-7ishtrulymadlydeeply_indebt! wrote: »Hi skint breeder 5. I bet you're as shattered as I am after being up until silly o'clock last night.
I clean for a living and I find bleach in a spray bottle is the best thing to use and leave it for about 5 minutes. The house I've been cleaning today provide me with Dettol Mould & Mildew Remover (it's in a green bottle) and it is marvellous in their bathroom. They have a sunken bath with literally 1000's of tiny mosaic tiles around it which seem to hang onto soap and shampoo scum - you know that telltale pink tinge you get on tiles/shower curtains? - well this stuff does the job no problem with the help of an old, soft toothbrush and next to no elbow grease. Just spray, go and have a cuppa, comeback and wipe away.
Thanks for both suggestions - still couldn't sleep after my last post, so I watched a few Kim & Aggie and a few Anthea on utube for inspiration, still couldn't sleep, then went down into the study for another couple of hours de-frogging in my dressing gown :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
I found my dressing gown very useful for de-frogging as it has very deep pockets, left pocket for little tooty bits to go elsewhere in the house (hair clips, pokemon pogs for DS, stray pens etc) right pocket for bin (sweet wrappers, pens that don't work were worst culprits)
Decided to put all the paperwork that needs filing and sorting into a crate on one of the office chairs, stuffed my pockets, emptied one, sorted the other, then I realised I was actually in a position to CLEAN all 6 pods, so I did, then I got a dry paint brush on the PC keyboard to brush out crumbs from various sandwiches DD1 must have consumed at her pod before going to uni :eek::eek::eek:
wiped over monitor, speakers, printer and phone:D:D
still too many crates, cupboards and big things to think about hoovering the floor, but I have moved them to one side of the room, so fly-baby bump and I have clear access to my pod now, all the stored images on my computer and a clean keyboard to work with
went back to bed at 5.30, DD3 wanted breakfast at 7, told her to have toast/cereal as I was zombie-fied, became conscious shortly before 8 to find she had eaten all the boiled vegetables that was to be tonights butternut squash soup :mad::mad: made sandwiches and flask of tea for DD2 to go off to college, then concentrated on getting DS ready for nursery and me to hospital
drove 3 miles before realising I had left my purse at home, so had to go back for it:o:o - several hours at hospital, got told off, got DS on the way back, put him in his cotbed for his nap, got changed into flying clothes ready to make a start, thought I would get my legs up for 5 minutes while he was napping and then fell asleep for 2 hours :eek::eek::eek:
so nothing to strike off today's list yet! DD3 has prepared more vegetables so we can still have soup as planned, so I will eat, then stick DS in the bath and work some of the list around him, then TRY and quit early-ish
right time for a cuppa, then dinner

In my earlier (lost) post, I said that I had come across an advert for a steam mop. Does anyone have one of these? Are they any good? I don't have many hard floors, but it can apparently do carpets to & deoderize them (by killing bacteria, I suppose). It can also sanitize toys & stuff without chemicals. Just wondering if it is worth the money, or will it be another gadget that is too much faff to use & clean?
GI, if the one you have seen is bright pea green with a triangular head, I have had two of these, bought off late night shopping channels.
The only reason I had two, is because 3 weeks after buying the first one, DD1 thought she would "help" mop the floor but thought it stupid to clean the floor with clean tap water, so made a solution of fl@sh and hot water and poured it into the reservoir and killed it!
Up until that point I was using it to mop at least every other day because it was sooooo easy, the attachments were a bit more fiddly, but did ok....after spending 8 months hankering after my deceased steam mop and using a regular sponge head mop once a fortnight or less ( for shame) I decided to bung it on credit card and buy a new one (not very MSE) but 4 weeks in, it is getting a good work out again, but I would say the glass cleaner attachment isn't worth bothering with
hope this helpsThe cold never bothered me anyway0 -
Well done embb on the new job, and skint breeder - get some sleep.
No flying for me today, just paid stuff. DH was off work so helped walk the dogs, meant I didn't have to go out 6 times! He also washed up and sorted washing to dry, so we now have a flyman in jazees joint.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
Still need to clean the sofa but I have framed myself this afternoon:
Thursday - Bathroom Deep clean
Level One
[STRIKE]Clean the toilet, inside, outside and round the back of the pipe[/STRIKE] 3 of them
Level Two
Descale taps, plug holes etc
[STRIKE]Wipe the tiles[/STRIKE] just ensuite as main done when decorated
Level Three
[STRIKE]Give bath and/or shower tray a good scrub out
Hoover and wash the floor right into the corners including any skiring
Polish mirrors, windows, shower screens[/STRIKE]
Extras
[STRIKE]Clean towels, mats etc
Need new toothbrushes/sponges/nail files etc?
Decant part empty bottles, throw away any empties, congealed or germ ridden toiletries[/STRIKE]
They weren't too bad actually, especially the main bathroom, and I had recently cleared out some junk, so it was just a quick browse. Oddly I bought new toothbrushes for the tots yesterday, mine is electric but I will switch the head.
I also ate the frog that was stitching the backing onto my cross-stitch tiger for DS' patchwork quilt. I've made it into a tiny cushion with some wadding and felt backing, finished in blanket stitch. He's pleased with it, and I've added a ribbon loop soi can attach to the quilt with a big button.
My bedding is washed and hung to dry. DD had a little dribble but managed one pair of pants all afternoon and even sat on the Thomas loo seat after her brother showed her how to get up :T:A
Well done embb!Bossymoo
