    Hi
I have just had a look at Tesco website and it would appear that the cheapest option would be evap watered down. Closely followed by value UHT.

It would be a good idea to put a couple of tins of evap in your cupboard when ou are feeling flusher, for times like this. I applaud your attitude, but do make sure that you don't contribute more than your fair share if your partner lives with you.

I am sure I read a post on here about buying full fat milk and watering down to make semi skimmed. Of course I am now looking for it and cannot find it. A seach of "milk" has brought up pages and pages and after ploughing my way through about 15 pages I have given up to ask for help.

I normally buy semi skimmed but this would obviously save money. How much do you water it down by?

  • i sometimes will water it down by up to 50% but remember its not an exact science, it wont be the same as semi skimmed nutritionally if that makes sense?

Surely the fat content will remain the same? I thought semi-skimmed meant that the fat was actually taken out which is what made the milk more watery and better for you.. watering it down will make it go further but the fat content will be the same...

the fat content should be half i think , if u add half water that is. Because for the same amount of "milk" with half of it water surely the fat and all other nutritional details will be half?

If you water it down by 1/2 it will have 1/2 the fat by volume of whole milk.

  • Hi,

I know quite a few people on here water down their milk and I was thinking I might save some money doing it:D

The thing is, I buy skimmed milk as we drink loads and loads in gallons of tea and coffee and porridge and all sorts and I wondered if anybody knew how the fat content would compare if I got semi and watered it down by half or full cream and watered it down to 4 times the amount? Hope that made sense!

Be interested to know anybodies thoughts on this or whether it just sounds disgusting!

    Thanks
