I didn't know that about evaporated milk, works out cheaper than fresh then doesn't it. UHT also cheap (I think I paid 35p for the last one I got) but wouldn't water that down as was skimmed. One day I might be more organised...........
GC: £200
Slinkies target 2018 - another 70lb off (half way to what the NHS says) so far 25lb0 -
Hi peeps
The gas at the minute reads nothing but the flame in the boiler is off too so its not using any gas.I'll flick it onto emergency later on.
Also my electric says £3.47 (it was £3.85 when i woke up) so ive used 38p in 4 and a half hours.
Im planning to take little one out to the park afterwards and am hoping ill be able to get hold of my friend soon to see if he was successful in claiming back money for tickets that i lost last month (£95) never know he might of had it and just been too busy to come and see me with it - fingers crossed!!!Time to find me again0 -
Yes deffo go for the evaporated milk diluted option. I have done this at desperate times and its fine. A tin is about 32p I think in asdas and will dilute to make loads of milk.Baby Ice arrived 17th April 2011. Tired.com! :j0

Not much help for now, I know, but next time you are shopping it might be worthwhile etting a pint of UHT milk. It's very cheap and keeps for ages. Then you could use this in an emergency.
Sorry can't be more help0 -
I know it sounds daft but do you have any candles? This evening instead of having light on while watching TV perhaps have a candle instead? Nice mood lighting!? Also if you have a TV and video/dvd player switch off the video etc if you're just watching telly - most people leave both on even when not being used.
Perhaps turn off the heating and hot water if you have an electric shower? You don't need the boiler on too.
Do you have a digital phone that sits on a charger? It'll last a good while (few days) without a charge so you could pull out the power supply to the charger?
Just some ideas....
Good luck

I noticed from your details that you work in a coop - could you pop in "for a few bits" and have "forgotten your purse" - perhaps they'd let you have the milk on a IOU and pay them back on Tuesday?
Desperate times need desperate measures!0 -
Hi Peeps
Just wanted to pop in and let you know
I phoned my friend who was tryign to claim back money for the tickets - when he picked the phone up he said 'oh i was going ot stop in tonight to see you, ive got some money for you' hes managed to claim back my money for the tickets. He did say he hasnt checked his bank account yet, but he said he had a letter the other day saying it was going in.
So fingers crossed he'll stop in at some point today to give me the money. Ive promised to make him tea too - thinking shepherds pie as i have some carrots in the fridge to be used up and soem frozen veg i can bung in it. Never know he might nip me to tescos when he sees how empty my house is!!

sammy-kayle - your luck is just like mine, always down to the last £, emergency for gas & lecky, not knowing how to get the next lot of milk/bread from etc - then something always turn up, usually in my case, I find the odd few coins which always help. Hurray for your friend!
