My friend just told me that Ryanair will start charging a fee for payments made using their cash passport. This will take effect on the 1st December 2012.:mad::mad:Is this true?
Apparently they sent emails out to cardholders but I have yet to receive an email.

Just got the email as well... looks like it's true...
Good old Office of Fair Trading... now everyone pays the higher price.Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks
On a rotating plate, with spikes like Flash Gordon
And you're Peter Duncan; I gave you fair warning0 -
Dear Cardholder,
Firstly we would like to thank you for purchasing a Ryanair Cash Passport card. We have seen thousands of our cardholders benefit from the offer of avoiding the admin fee charge on Ryanair.com since the launch of the card on 1st October 2011. We thank you for your continued support.
It is with regret that we write to inform you that, as a result of decisions by the UK Office of Fair Trading, Ryanair Cash Passport card users will no longer benefit from avoiding the £6 admin fee for transactions made on Ryanair.com from 1st December 2012. While we are disappointed at this development, Ryanair is obliged to honour the decisions of the UK Office of Fair Trading.
We are committed to providing you, the cardholder, with further updates on card promotions and intend on notifying you shortly on our planned changes in the card offering.0 -
This results from an undertaking given by Ryanair to the Office of Fair Trading on 29 June 2012, the full text of which can be found on the OFT website if you search for "Ryanair"
As always with Mr O'Leary, the official version of events may vary slightly from his slant on it!0 -
Oh well, £14.99 flights will be £20.99 including taxes, still a bargain.0

The OFT are right to prevent companies charging higher prices to customers who do not possess the card that is flavour of the money with an airline (remember to avoid the charge we previously needed a Visa Electron with Ryanair, then it changed to Mastercard Prepay, then it changed to Ryanair Cash passport...).
My bigger question though is why the £6 'admin fee' is legal at all. Surely it should just be incorporated into the ticket prices that are advertised at the beginning of the process?!0 -

I can`t smile when i have purchased 54 different flights this year with Ryanair and need to get 6 more :mad:0 -
It looks like they have interpreted the rules as charging everyone £6 for booking a flight, but unless they advertise the flight as including the charge, then surely this is a breach of the regulations as it's still an extra charge for something not included in the advertised price.
It looks like i'll be tearing up my card. Do I have to use up the credit or can I transfer it back to my bank account?0 -
I got the email as well. We are paying for the lowest denominator customer who could not be arsed to do something other than complain0
-
Maybe they will find a way of giving you some kind of bonus for using the card to buy flights (for example loyalty points that could be used on future Ryanair flights), or they could simply give you a promotional code giving you £6 off your next flight with Ryanair.0

According to the Ryanair website, you can avoid paying the admin charge by paying with Ryanair's free form of payment. Presumably they still need to provide one so we will need to wait and see what they decide to use this time..... I still have the cards for all the previous methods.....0
