Mrs VP, I don't have any problems with acupuncture from the physio, I just make sure I am relaxed before and have given myself some "time off" afterwards. Or as close to time off as possibleHave you had it before?

I'm trying to work out what schools to apply for if we get this house on Saturday. The nearest is 2 miles away. That's fine, we can walk it. Not great for little legs but not the end of the world. If we can't get into that school we're talking 3/4+ miles to get school... and I don't have a car.
Do Local Authorities pay for school transport over a certain mileage does anyone know? I can see a runaround is on the cards for me and I don't want one!0 -

Hi all, Delurking!
Just wanted to say my dd(2) has had the chest infection this week too and its a nasty one. There are several off from her nursery with it, and it's really knocked the wind out of her sails. It's been a week and she's still not really eating properly (although thankfully drinking lots more now).
Also, for Christmas, I can also recommend taking shortcuts. Last year we bought most things ready to just shove in the oven. I lost my dh to cancer 5 weeks before Christmas so really didn't feel like doing it, so me and his parents agreed to have a cheat day and just focus on the children and trying to get through as best we could. We will do the same this year.
So, if you are busy, unwell, or (as in my case) struggling emotionally, it's no bad thing to take a bit of help, and if that means not fannying about with pastry and dried fruit, then I say amen to that!Bossymoo

Oh wow, lots of bugs doing the rounds. Hugs to all.
VP's DH's boss took my breath away. The cheek of the man! "Come in and work for nothing to make me look better.."
My daughter has the man flu bug, but was at work today. I had the smallest sniffle and bit of throat soreness the other week, hope that's it done with for me. It usually is.
Ald! opened on the town today, with free cloth bags, free trolley tokens, free samples of cake and chocolate and 25 minute queues for the checkouts.
Five checkouts open, help with bag packing (no, I've never seen that in an Ald! either) and a "Oooh, you're DD's Mam!" from some the staff, as she works in the store many of them have been transferred/seconded from.
The cupboards are a lot fuller now. Next week I shall buy carefully, stocking up for Chrimbo. I'm so pleased that I've been extra -frugal in recent weeks as it meant I didn't feel guilty slipping in a few treats today.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... oh another one here feeling pants, I have resorted to hot 'beena (well cheapo blackcurrant squash but I can't tell the difference) and slugs of the m3tat0ne tonic unearthed from the back of the cupboard. I feel very fragile and can't stop crying tonight due to a horrid conversation with boss man. I am not going to brave the gym tonight I am going to sit on my butt under the blanket with Doglet watching !!!! on the box. Was going to read but TBH eyes are not focusing too well through the tears and it makes the pages go crinkly so decided that is a bad idea. At least with the TV if i don't see it I can rewind it or just ignore it
Hugs to all - apologies if they are a bit damp.
If I have days like that (and I do from time to time) I just try to "mother" myself with some comfort food like cream of tomato soup, snuggly blankets and easy viewing/ listening/ reading.
Just stick your lip out and have a good ole grizzle and let it pass. I think we're all entitled to a grizzly time, even if we're adult, in the privacy of our own homes. And on a forum, of course.
Here's hoping everyone feeling bleurghhh gets a good night's rest and feels better in the morning.
Hey, I read somewhere that the "stress hormone hydrocortisone" is secreted in tears, so you really can let it out and feel better afterwards. Officially-sanctioned weeping; what could be better?
Me, I have tea, I've given up playing with the scanner tonight as I'm bored with sitting on the floor to use it and will chill a bit and then curl up with a book before bedtime.

There's a lot of info on the Net, Fuddle, re schools transport, on the Co. Counc. websites.
As far as I can work out, in NY it's only free if children are eligible for free meals or if the family is on max. WFTC when it's over 2 miles.
In CD, it's free up to age 8, from 8-11 it's not free.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
Thank you, DH has told me to quit it... i.e. Im waffling on about what if's and he can't hear the telly. I'll cross that bridge when I come to it, if fuddle, if0

Unixgirl, I've known people like that woman before, nice as pie on the surface, nasty as all hell beneath. Avoid, avoid, avoid.
Sorry you both have the lurgy Kittie, Shegar and Cranky40, hope you're feeling better soon (have a virtual hot toddy from me). Glad you're on the mend Pooky, but you can have a toddy too.
Well done with the wardrobe clearance Possession, that's an impressive haul.
MrsCD, I was thinking to get an uniced cake, feed it liberally with whisky, avoid naked flames, ice it and ta-da! I like the idea of glittery mince pies too.
MrsVP, we should start planning that new years party forthwith. I'm touting the name "Kicking 2012 up the 'arris", what do you think?
Missrlr, not to speak out of turn, but have you started looking for another job? I stayed in my last one too long, was wiped out healthwise, destroyed mentally and my self esteem was through the floor. I don't want that for you, you should get out if you can before it really gets you. *many hugs* It's not you, it's them.
As for me today, the tablets have stopped the odd facial numbness, but not really the sudden ouchy stabs. On the plus side, I read that they used to be used to treat anxiety, which would explain why I'm no longer pooping myself over the possibility this is MS not shingles! I'm quite enjoying the drowsiness too, it's like I've had a couple of glasses of wine :rotfl:
Am hopefully purchasing "Christmas" today, in one fell swoop. And balls to anyone not satisfied with that.
Love to all. I've been trying to thank people individually, but it takes a lot of concentration to do that and not press spam.... so thank you all collectively.Softstuff- Officially better than 0070
