My thanks to you ladies who volunteer for guiding etc, my DD loves Brownies, and I know it's a lot of work. You must have a lot more patience than me though!
Finished sorting the Wardrobe of Doom! Found lots of mouldy shoes and some items we haven't taken out of there for the last 9 years we've been here. Anyway, about 10 black sacks later it's looking a lot less scary. The vacuum pack bags I bought in Asda haven't worked though, I can hear the air coming out of them.
Have also wrapped some xmas pressies so a good day for organising. Next job is to list all the clothes to sell on ebay.0 -
POSESSION - 10 black sacks is impressive!!!!! Cheers Lyn xxx.0

I couldn`t read and run, so sorry about your news MrsVP and am thinking of you
I feel really lowsy and rough, I caught dh`s cough/cold only I have it much worse. I can`t think or knit and am so bunged up and woolly. Night is worse and I can see me going up at 7 again, I can watch tv up there but had less than two hours sleep in total last night. Whatever the bug is, it is out there and is nasty
Anyway, this would be my shtf in winter so I have just done a meds order from chemist direct and got to go as I have a bout of coughing0 -

It would be a lot more impressive if I hadn't had all that useless stuff in there in the first place, LOL! Still, all gone now, apart from the dresses etc which lay all over my bedroom floor waiting to be sold.
Kittie & Shegar, DH & I have both had that and it really knocks you for six doesn't it. Much sympathies. Am just starting to feel properly better now.0 -

Don't worry about sounding miserable. I've got it too and it is misery making. Isn't that what the winter store is for though? Emergencies? I have plenty in because even if I'm ill I still have to feed the little person (who has very wisely gone to sit in the other room). My neighbours probably think we live on microwave food if they hear the microwave beeping all the time, but today it was heating up home made spinach and quorn lasagne that I took out of the freezer last night.
I spent all day in between school runs in bed on Tuesday and Wednesday, but stayed up today and made chicken and veg soup in the slow cooker, and pottered just a little.
Hope everyone with this nasty cold bug feels better soon. I feel that a sluuurp from Docky would probably help cure it :rotfl:0 -
Hugs to all the poorlies, having had it I know just how nasty it is. Really knocks you for six. I'm still coughing well and can't hear a thing from my right ear but feel better in my self. Rest and lots of fluids is the order!
Busy, busy day here, got lots more wood chopped (got a new saw and it's fab - if a little noisy), got another crochet glove finished this afternoon and DD1 has gone out wearing them. DD2 wants multi coloured ones so will start those later. DD1 said "make lots" as her friends will all want them too, she's a photography student and yesterday they were outside for hours and could have done with fingerless gloves.....looks like I might be supplying her course mates.
DHs birthday tomorrow and I feel dreadful that it's the local fireworks display and DDs want to go, he can't come with us (can't look up and will get too cold in his wheelchair). He's staying behind to look after the kittens (it's in a field nearby so will be noisy here). Typically we've got appointments all over the place tomorrow too so I feel I won't have time to just spend time with him. Daft really when we spend 24 hours a day together everyday.
Ho hum - veggi/lentil and mixed bean chilli bubbling away to go with jacket spuds, just waiting for DDs to make an appearance, they've both gone to meet boyfriends so at least they might be in good moods when they come in"Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
Mrs L - your menu looks wonderful! Thanks for the ideas :T
Softstuff - I agree with the others who have suggested buying everything to save you time and effort if you're not up to making it all. I would 'tart up' the mince pies with edible glitter, and buy some special ice cream to have with the pudding. If you buy a fairly ordinary cake you can 'feed' it for a few weeks from underneath if necessary!
Lots of folks are having a hard time at the moment. Sending lots of hugs where needed. x x
I had some good news today. I had a routine mammogram a couple of weeks ago, and I've had the letter saying everything is ok. So I'm grateful for small mercies.2025 Fashion on the ration

My eldest DD is walking around all poorly too. She's 8 and never seen her act like an achey grown up. I think she has the beginnings of the flu coming on. Already worried about not getting to work tomorrow.
Bed is best and I loved hot orange (all i had in) and honey when I was poorly. Be kind to yourselves poorly peeps0 -
Evening all and thank you so much for your messages of support.
Mr VP went to the job centre today and his phone rang so he cut the call (and got told off for having his phone on he is 52 not 15), anyway it was his boss who immediatly sent him a text saying it must still be raw but we have not told your colleagues can you please come in and manage the message with your colleagues and clients . The cheek of it. If finishing him has left them with some problems then tough they can sort them out thmselves.
DD2 has applied for a couple of jobs in a supermarket that will fit in around college but there was nothing for Mr VP apart from driving jobs which would not work with the 2 slipped discs in his back. Still it is early days.
On a brighter note I have had my first physio session today the pain is worse in my lower back but he has released all of the tightness in my upper back which feels great. I go back on Monday for some accupuncture .
Soup and sweet night tonight with some pumpkin rescued from the jaws of the slugs on the lottie and some dodgy week old gingercake from the cake tin smothered in custard.
SOFTSTUFF I think your newyear kick 2012 up the bum party is a great idea, count me in.
Mrs VPI am playing all of the right notes just not necessarily in the right order.
