I remember when 3 year old DS got a visit from the Health Visitor. She was trying to get him to build a tower of blocks, brush a dollies hair, "pour tea" for everyone and he ignored all of it. Just sat playing with his toy engines - also put the blocks in a line and treated it like a train.:D She was saying "is he always this intent on one activity" - me "only if it's trains". She mooted that he might be autistic - at which point DS built the tower, poured the tea, brushed dolly's hair, threw them all down on the floor and went back to his trains - as if to say "s0d off and leave me alone" :rotfl:I wanna be in the room where it happens0

Lynn that made me laugh. My youngest dd was having her pre school check and was asked what colour something was and when she said Burgundy the health visitors face was a picture but she just said she had not had such a sophisticated answer in a long while and agreed with dd that it was indeed more burgundy than red.
A health visitor asked me a lot of questions for my last child who is 13 and i was so surprised. One was does he know he is a boy? another was can he hop? he would not hop for her and she got really flustered about it so in the end i lied and said oh yes he does it at home. i had no idea if he could or not but since he stood at 51/2 months and walked at 8 months I knew there was nothing wrong with him. He did hop for me when we got home.0 -
We have very equal offspring don't we Grandma? It's not easy when they are two steps ahead of you, not just the usual one is it? But it's always been fun, Cheers Lyn xxx.0

I remember when my neice had her check before starting school so just turned 4 and she was getting questions like 'what is your favourite colour?'. Before she could answer her 18 month old sister started reeling off that her favourite colour was purple, but her sisters was pink and mummy's was blue, daddy's was red etc etc.... The health visitor didn't know what to say! Lol0

When my twins were little a certain health worker told me they did not know their colours- having spent a lot of time discussing this when playing I knew that they did.
Spent the next morning waving a jelly baby at them saying "Tell me the colour and you can have it" - that was a fun time but they did eventually say the word!!
A few days later the "person" mentioned they had just tested them for recognising colours - all went well for red, green, yellow, black etc till she showed the colour purple - younger said when prompted after a while that it was purple "that is not purple - that is pale lilac!!"
I managed not to giggle but they did wonder why I gave them a huge hug and a treat later that day;)

Bit worried about Pops, he wasn't at the Club this evening and hasn't emailed either. It's cold and a little snowy here but not too bad compared with some areas.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0

Woke up to another 5" here - three neighbours are lambing and they look exhausted and so fed up. There's more on the way by the look of the sky now. I am very excited ( I lead a sheltered life!) because I'm getting my haircut today - I hope the buses are running.
Hope to gawd we don't get a powercut as my freezer is too full. I'm actually thinking of cutting down on frozen food and storing more dry goods and tins.0 -
