    Morning all,

peanut - hope your earache has started to ease? good news on the cheque - every little helps and all that!

kezlou - sorry to hear you are having all sorts of health problems (I know some are long term) and things are very difficult with your OH. Not fair when everything comes at once.

Try and hold on to the positives, the ADs will help once they kick in and maybe you will get some answers once all the tests are done and results back. Just take one day at a time, cry if you need to and do something nice for yourself every day. Keep posting on here and let us know how you're doing too. Sending you massive hugs.

kidcat - big hugs for you too. How are you today?

Sending everyone big virtual mugs of steaming hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows on top (optional obviously) and a plate of your favourite biccys. Hang in there, spring weather will be with us soon.

Thanks for your kind wishes, parts of me feeling a little better today - just waiting for the other parts to catch up. :rotfl: I cancelled my volunteering at school today, they were so kind and lovely I felt really guilty. Could do with a nap but decided to do what I can of this eve's tasks as I will be struggling later. Will make dinner next then another sit down doing tomorrow's coursework then if time wash my hair. Dishwasher and washing machine are on - feel so lucky to have them today. In bed typing this on my lappy - partly to have a rest but mainly because there are a pair of elderly cats curled up together on the computer chair and I haven't the heart to move them.

Also I think I forgot to say thanks to some posters a week or so ago who said some lovely things to me about doing what's best for my family etc - apologies if it was you I forgot.

    take care everyone
    sq:)

Hi everyone, today is DD, dentist day!! Took DD to collage has a treasure hunt in London today!!! She is 17 so I hope she will be ok. Then I went to the hairdressers, its £10 for a haircut so not too bad. It is over £40 in the town centre.

First load of washing is in the machine, dishwasher has been unloaded and then part reloaded back up. Just need to motivate myself to clean the bathroom and hoover upstairs.

Just worked out it is 7 weeks until our mon - fri sun holiday in scarborough. I just hope the weather is going to be better by the time we go. Will be taking some food etc with us, along with the bedding. It saves us £20 to take our own bedding.

All the snow is gone now, just very windy and extremely cold.

SQ glad your feeling a little better today.

Right onwards and upwards...... more housework.

Nutty: Good luck at dentist, your braver than me!

SQ: Still nothing :( been warned it could take weeks! :(

Had a good morning. Managed a shower and hair dryed my hair for the first time since LO was born :) such a big difference, it looks lots better :)
  • Afternoon all, it's still perishing cold outside but the wind has dropped a bit and compared to yesterday it is positively balmy!!!!!!!

I got the bus to Morr*sons today and got off one stop before to have a look in W*itrose, it is a small one but they do substantial reductions at 11 ish in the mornings. I got 2 packs of their Lean Pork Sausages for £1.25 each, 2 packs of their Big Haddock Fresh Fish Fingers (6 in a pack) for £1.49 a pack, a big pack of chicken livers for £1.09 and 2 Melting Middle Cod Mornay Fish Cakes for £1.99pso I got enough really good quality things for 11 meals for the two of us for £ 8.56 not bad eh? Then I went to Iceland and got a big pack of Cooking bacon for £2 it is all streaky rashers and fryable, so breakfasts sorted. In Mr M I got some stuffed belly pork rashers reduced so all in all a successful shop and I won't need to go again for a couple of weeks. Hope all the visits to the dentist have been successfully accomplished and that everyone feeling down or poorly is feeling much better today, take care of yourselves, Cheers Lyn xxx.

Well done on that, Lyn, it will be a few weeks before I go out for the evening reductions to our Mr T's. I enjoy cycling down on spring/summer evenings for a mooch.
I haven't worked out when A!di reduce, must ask DD as she works for them, but not that store.
I've decided to try recipes from cookbooks that I don't usually use as well as my plethora of economical ones. Most of them have a few that are tempting without breaking the bank, particularly those published in recent years.
There was one called Supper for a Song that was utterly ridiculous though - budget recipes included venison, pheasant and a dessert based on a pound of Valrhona chocolate... Written by 'sister of Daniel' Tamasin Day-Lewis, a fact she doesn't let you forget, with names bouncing off the pages regularly. I did enjoy slating her in my review...!
Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.

I am back from the dentist !!!!!!!

Was a not too bad experience. I saw a lady, very nice and friendly. My usual dentist man was in, but has a damaged hand and had prewarned her. I had my crown glued back in. She was amazed that I had stuck it back in with toothpaste, see im very resourceful at times.
Total cost for 5 mins was £17.50, money well spent.
Next appointment is the official 6 month check up, in 2 weeks time. All looking good so far.

We stopped off at Mr A on the way and tbh not many bargains to be had. got a huge savoy cabbage for 50p, that will do at least 2 meals. A cucumber and some carrots for 50p each too. I am trying to be good so didn't look in the clothing isle as tempted as I was.

Off for a cuppa and 5 min rest. take care x

    Hi,

Gosh it's cold isn't it? The sun showed itself this afternoon but made not a tad of difference to the temperature. I relented and put the heating up a couple of degrees, the best place is in bed.

Kezlou: Don't you worry petal. Pain is pain wherever it comes from and it's horrible. You need love and comfort not criticism. You are always such a support to suffering people here so let's give you some of that back. You just keep yourself as warm and cosy as possible and look after yourself if no-one's going to do it for you.

sq: you keep yourself warm and cosy too.

peanut: Every Mum will resonate with you. Coping with a new baby is more tiring than anyone realises before they've tried it for themselves. I remember looking with awe and amazement at people with 2 or more children. I couldn't imagine why they had put themselves through it more than once.
Don't worry, life does settle down and resume some sort of normality at some stage. You're doing just fine.

I'm at the stage now where I'm ready to start looking after myself again. To be honest putting clothes on was an accomplishment before! Lol.

I'm not getting into the habit of things and am managing to sort a decent meal every evening for me and OH (which he is loving, lol) and getting changed isn't an issue now.

But I'd like to do like I did this morning, actually do my hair! Sounds weird but it made me feel so much better today and my mum noticed as soon as I went over this morning :) I need to book in to get my eyebrows done again (I know it's not MSE ATALL but I just can't stand plucking my eyebrows, so I do treat myself to a wax) and to be honest I need new clothes.

I'm at that limbo size where I dont fit into pre pregnancy clothes and my maternity clothes look a bit lose and my trousers do fall down. Lol. I also need to get myself measured as since stopping BF the sad truth is they have shrunk (apologies men of the topic!) and I need some new underwear to make them look good. Lol.

I got quite low about how I'm looking last night and said I just feel a bit saggy and 'meh'. OH repeatedly told me how beautiful he thinks I am and I will admit he is very good in making sure I 'know' he still adores me (even if I don't agree), he does show me nicely too :)

For those who have little uns (or had them!) does the weight eventually go, or am I going to have to bite the bullet and start some sort of diet?

There are other things I'd like to do, like more of the housework. Although the every day things are done I'm still leaving quite a bit to the weekends when OH is here to play with LO. I'd love to have all the housework done so on a sunday (his day off) we can just do fun family things! :)

I also want to start baking, OH takes cake to work everyday and I HATE to admit that it's shop bought :( I LOVE making cake and really really love decorating them, but I just don't do it! Need to make time to make a simple batch of muffins or some brownies or anything!

PeanutDon't worry about your figure at the moment - just enjoy LO and your OH 'till you get back to feeling normal. It takes a little while & everyone varies.
Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle
