Chuckling here at your elderly Rambo Silva. Mind you Mr Stallone himself must be getting on a bit now.
The snow is melting here thank goodness. I'm so grateful I managed to get the indoor cage for the baby bunnies so cheaply though. I couldn't have left them outside when it's so freezing and they're so tiny. And Elona, I suspect they are going to stay house bunnies now. DH & I talked about it last night and we can't imagine moving them back outside, we'd miss them. So we need to think about how to bunny-proof the house when they are a bit bigger and we can let them out of the small part they are confined to at the moment. I'd rather like to not have hay all over my house as well. They are already quite well litter-trained though.

Hi NuttypThanks for the offer - a bit too far though ;) We are lucky 'cos a friend of ours has a business & we can get pallets from him which are good for 'kindling'.
Funnily enough we're coming up to Lincolnshire after Easter to a family 60th Wedding Anniversary (Sleaford) Hope the weather has eased off a bit by then 'cos it don't half blow up there!
Possession Now I know how to post a link I'm tempted to take a sneaky photo of him....;)

    Morning all, welcome back Prudence

well done nutty for getting yourself an appt. A lady dentist specialising in nervous patients sounds ideal for you. I am not keen on dentists either (who is?) but to keep my :D I make myself go. Our newish dentist insists on making an appt for the next 6 month follow up when you go for a checkup, even got a reluctant DH to go regularly with this method. I try to think of other things whilst in the chair and when I feel myself getting tense I try to relax the tense areas - easier said then done I know.

kidcat - did you get you appt? How are you feeling today? Thinking of you...

How is everyone else? Feels quiet on here the last few days.

I have serious sugar/chocolate cravings and feel a right ratbag, damn hormones to blame. Still the kids' chocolate cakes I found in the cupboard did taste good.... even better when there is some guilt involved :D

Tons I could rabbit on about but I know I am stalling on here - a huge pile of non-dishwasher stuff needs washing amongst other things. The dishes are looking at me... sigh... gotta do em haven't I?

sending my best OS wishes to you all. onwards and upwards me toughies

    Hi all.

Trying to catch up after the weekend - not only here but housework, paperwork etc.

The Rev is out so the mice, or mouse in this case, is at play.

Kidcat: A partner is supposed to be a comfort and support not add to your problems. I know how hard it is to call an end to a relationship, I did it after 18 years, and had not one regret after all the shouting and tumult had subsided. Your loyalty is to yourself and your children and you have done your very best for everyone so NO guilty feelings please.

Nuttyp: We have one of those pretty electric fires. We have just the flame effect on. "Oh, how cosy," visitors exclaim when they walk in, and are handed a fleece to wrap themselves in. We wouldn't dare put the heating bit on.

Morning all. Another 'too scared of the dentist to go' here. I even get it free for the next year due to LO, but I just can't!! So I take extra care of them to avoid any issues, lol.

Had an 'ugh' weekend. Ears still killing, given antibiotics this morning as Doctor now spots an infection. Hopefully these will help.

A good day today though and currently love my postman! Not only did tickets for a concert we're going to in May turn up (my favourite band so did a proper happy dance) but also a lovely cheque from the HMRC for overpaid tax :D Not a huge cheque (just under £100) but gone straight in the 'pay back my mum and dad for laptop' pot :)

    Hi guys,
Can I ask you a question-I'm sure somebody can help!
I'm now proud owner of JML halogen oven and so far I'm very impressed with it.
Today I decided to cook 2 dishes in it using extender ring-in 25 minutes I had perfectly cooked chicken pieces and absolutely uncooked apple pie so had to remove chicken and carry on with apple pie.Hence my question-has somebody tried cooking two dishes in halogen oven and if so do you have any tips to share?
I found a thread on MSE but it's soooo long!
    Thank you!

I tried apple crumble in my halogen once, as the only dish. The crumble was very well cooked but the apples still raw after the cooking time was up.

My next adventures with apple crumble involved zapping the apple in the microwave to precook it, before topping it and cooking the topping in the halogen. Worked a treat!

My halogen replaced an ancient gas cooker, and I use it in combination with a microwave, a slow cooker and (rarely) a small portable hob.

My best advice with a halogen is to use it as a high power fan assisted grill rather than as a conventional oven, so larger pieces of meat, casseroles etc. are done in my slowcooker. If they need a browned or crunchy topping, they go in the halogen just for finishing. I love slow cooked meat, so it suits me fine.

So with apple dishes, and likely most other fruits, I would always precook and do the finishing off/topping in the halogen.

Hope that helps - best wishes to all toughies, keep your pinnies flying!

Afternoon toughies - errr I wimped out, just couldnt do it, made all sorts of excuses, meetings all day, school plays but whilst true I should still have gone yet I couldnt I am a big huge wimp :(

Worse todays meeting went really badly and I am now buried so deep inside a rotten situation I have no idea how to turn it around - other than to "take over" from the chair (which an independant official did ask me to at one point) and I just dont want to do that, I like the chair, she just doesnt have the skills to turn around a group that is fundamentally set up wrong, has a corrupt member and is being pushed and pulled by various depts to make it fit their statutory requirements.

Oh and whilst I was collecting DS9 from school someone hit my car and has badly damaged the wing mirror - OH has gone wild.

It has not been a good day and a massive part of me wishes I had stayed in bed!

Halogen ovens - I find that the layers need rotating - so the layer on top gets moved to bottom half way through the cook.

Monnagran thank you, and to you all too - I am nowhere nearer an answer yet but your support is keeping me sane.
  • Kidcat, I have no useful advice but just wanted to give you a hug! And your mission is to find just 20 minutes to yourself tonight, lock yourself in the bathroom with a book and a wee drink, or claim you are looking for something in the bedroom and just sit with your feet up.

I hope you find a resolution to everything that is going on, but right now it sounds like you really need a little space to yourself. Take care x

Oh kidcat love, you have had a day and a half. You don't need the little things like the mirror on top of the bigger things do you?

I don't know what to suggest re your group - I know the group is very important to you and important in its own right but maybe you could consider taking more of a back seat rather than being in the driving seat or even take a break completely citing family/personal reasons - just for a while. Just a suggestion, hope you don't mind me saying.

You have so much on ordinarily with family life and now your relationship at breaking point - please please listen to us sensible folk here and look after yourself too. You are important and we care about you. Take breaks, get support, have a look at your priorities and consider them realistically. Don't want to sound harsh (thinking of you love) but if you become ill and completely exhuasted who will take over?

ok lecture over! hope tomorrow is brighter for you
