Kidcat: I have learned from bitter experience that the longer you leave it the more treatment you may need. Or lose a tooth altogether which is worse than any scary treatment. And the longer you leave it the worse the fear and trepidation becomes. Round and around. When I finally dragged myself to a recommended dentist he was gentleness and kindness itself and I was never scared in his hands ever again.

Kidkat I have found a nice dentist, he is polish and wears the most lovely smelling aftershave and lots of it!!!! I always close my eyes, and I hold onto a piece of tissue which I raise when I need him to stop. He is very nice, but I am absolutely scared silly. The worse thing is my astmah can be agrivated when I start to panic.

I promise tomorrow I will call them first thing.

kidcat - thinking of you and sending you strength. If things can't get any worse.... then there is only one way to go.... things will have to get better.

I am lacking words of wisdom today but please keep posting as we are all supporting you and going through this alongside you.

Do you have anyone you can talk to in RL - either a trusted friend and/or someone in a counselling capacity - maybe through the organisations you are involved in or a local service or GPS even?

I find writing it all out helps too - just hide or destroy the evidence. Even if you have made up your mind, you will feel very emotional (as you do now) and any thing that will support you emotionally is worth doing.

Had a very difficult conversation with my mum earlier. Might post about it later but need to have a break from it - plus in the middle of cooking/baking. Roast in the oven, or some of it anyway. Bread half made and the promised cakes still not baked. PMT also making its presence known - hoping kitchen duties will be enough to keep me calmish and sane-ish!

Hi everyone Thank you very much silvasava for the recipe for the Grannycake. Thanks also for the photo, and I am going to try baking it tomorrow myself. What temperature would that be for a fan assisted oven please? Thanks in advance Margaret

Hi, have just called the dentist. I am going tomorrow as todays emergency appointments are all gone!!!!!!!! My actual dentist is off, so I am being seen by a lady who specialises in nervous people, lets see how we get on......... I rinsed out where the crown goes with mouthwash, cant brush it as its very sensitive. And then I reput it in place with a small dab of toothpaste. tadah!!!!

Its nice and sunny here maybe I should get the washing put on as it could dry on the line today.

OH has decided we are going to sit and budget together, now he has never ever budgeted in his life. He has no idea about any of the bills, infact he didn't even know how much the rent was. It has just gone up by £3.50 a week. He thought the £72 was for a fortnight lol. I wish, still it is cheap.

If anyone knows when the next free listing weekend will be on flebay please can you let me know. I am now determind to make some more, and save even just a little.

Off to sort my hair out, I have woken up with a moheican for some strange reason.

Ohh - hugs to those with toothy problems. Please don't let your fear stop you getting your teeth seen to. The two things I feel you need to spend time & money on are your eyes and your teeth - they have to last you a long time! I used to be nervous (still am a little bit) 'cos of bad experiences as a child but my dentist was very good. I used to clasp my hands together & deep breathe - he always knew when it was getting a bit much 'cos he used to say 'your knuckles are going white - want to take a break' haha
Glad the link worked OK for the Granny Cake - sorry Margaret I don't know the fan oven conversion as I'm still cooking on gas :)
Just to say when I do bake it if it needs a little longer cooking I just put a greaseproof paper over the top so it doesent get too dry.

Hope everyone can stay warm in this awful weather. I put an ad on Freecycle yesterday to see if anyone has some wood for burning. Lady has come back & has a garden with lots of overgrown trees & a big thick conifer hedge to clear! DH is now off on a mission with his chainsaw (sort of elderly Rambo)
Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle

silvasava, if you were nearer me in Lincolnshire my brother often has pallets to get rid off. He always gives them away on freecycle.

I wish we could open up our fireplace, but I don't think the council will allow it. They put an electric 'flame' effect blow heater fire in there. It is nice just very expensive to run.
