Oh not one of those I don't need shopping trips that end up with you spending three times as much as you didn't have in the first place.
Yeah, I've been on a few of them.;)0 -
All fun and games to day chez stiltwalker - picked up the little stiltwalkers' new glasses. DD is great - she wears her glasses all the time now and she let the lady in specsavers fit them beautifully. DS is another matter all together, it's his first pair - had forgotten quite what a nightmare it was with DD this time last year trying to get her to wear her glasses and DS is even younger at only 22 months!
It started so well when we had to take one pair back to specsavers for repair before we'd even got home! all we'd done was nip into Mr T's and tried them on him a couple of times before one arm went ping and broke - 20 minutes he'd had them!!! We'd ordered 2 pairs as we always have 2 for both kids and DH in case of probs so onto other pair - and popping them on him for a couple of minutes at a time every so often but he's seriously unimpressed with the whole thing.
Having a quiet day after our excitement at York - DD loved the Railway museum and Jorvik and we had a lovely night in the Premier Inn - got to love that January sale as it was £25! We got the meal deal as well which was good - 3 courses and a drink for me and DH and breakfast for all of us for £46, just had to pay for the kids dinners on top of that. It was a real treat without breaking the bank.
Take care all X0 -
Lottiesmum I put the chicken in on top of some chunks of potato or onion (to stop it sticking to the bottom). I don't add any liquid. It does tend to fall apart though, it's so tender.
A very user-unfriendly trip to Ikea today - we had all the children's furniture to order and some was in, some wasn't, it could only be delivered today or tomorrow, and tomorrow is DD's birthday so we are planning to be out, yada yada yada. Stupid systems they have. But we had to do it quickly, DS's furniture has collapsed completely and is basically a pile of chipboard on the floor. Not very useful for storage purposes.0 -
I've not been to lkea for years, DH can't drive far enough for us to get to one. Typically I need some things for the kitchen from there and it's the one range of things they don't deliver.
Heating blokes are just finishing off, we have a warm house for the first time since Monday, everything seems to be working ok and I'm so pleased to feel properly warm. The open fire has been fab at keeping the chill off the house and keeping the living room warm but with all the snow we've had it's been mighty cold here.
I've got a stinking head cold, feeling utterly pants and looking forward to the blokes leaving so I can go curl up in bed."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
stiltwalker - so jealous, the railway museum in York is one of my favourite places ever, I absolutely adore it and so want to show OH how good it is, pity York is so very far from us
Today has been very grey, both inside my head and outside. The lurgy is yet to bu**er off and leave me alone, so the last two nights have been filled with being awake. Now running on empty and not really sure how I'm actually awake! That said, today has been relatively productive. Pork bought for slowcooker tomorrow, and the car has been washed (a bit), she is now almost clean and shiny.0 -
We stayed at a premier inn for the first time last weekend (half way point to meet rellis) I have to say I was very impressed lovely room for two adults and a baby clean / warm and two all you can eat cooked breakfasts all for fortish quid. The pub next door where breakfast was served plus we had an evening meal was great to. Double great when you have a good time at a bargain price I always think.0

Not used to having to read 5 pages to catch up. It's really very enjoyable reading what you're all upto all in one to except I forget what I wanted to say to you all!
I've always put water in SC when cooking chicken. Ill try withoutthank you!
Little ones and glasses. Being hindered by spectacles myself I feel for the little people. The little boy I worked with at school was forever discarding his glasses in the secret garden... Yes, muggings here regularly got on all fours hunting for the things in the long grass. Once he put them on a tree branch and took great delight in watching me search. Little monkey eh?!
Good news is that it looks like we will receive some tax credits for the childcare and also great news that the girls are enrolled for breakfast club and after school club within the school so at least I know where they are at all times. Because its school ran the fees are less than I thought too. You know what that means don't ya? It means we can employ at dog walker to take Alfie out for a little walkies at lunchtime. We can keep him!
I start work on Monday! 9-6 with 30 min dinner. My CRB check isn't in, of course but they have my one from November when I did the dinner nannying so they are prepared to trust me when I say I'm kosher.
I'm wondering what to put in my car as emergency kit in the spring summer. The road to work is dual carriageway that is liable to flooding in extreme times and gets hammered with high winds. There's a hotel 3 miles away (put my mind at ease I times of really bad snow) and although I have a really nasty bank to get up to get to work my employers are farmers so I think I need not worry
I'll be quiet in the coming weeks because I suspect its going to be a culture shock working hard and long but the plan is to read and catch up with you all nightly as a way of relaxing when the girls are in bed.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend everyone0
