:hello:Many thanks maryb, B&T, gq and Pops, now I have a good basis for looking around. Might be worth thinking about a trolley oh could sit on once he is out and about again, though not sure if he would ever do so, recently we tended to avoid shops with no chairs/benches around. A big concern would be the state of the pavements and roads around here, full of pot holes and uneven slabs, I remember ruining a couple of baby buggies when kids were small.:D The wheels went all wonky.
Cheers anyway :T0 -
I have a fairly cheap model of trolley, £15 from a shop in town, as I won't use it much and wasn't sure how self conscious I would feel with it. Turns out I couldn't give a flying fig
It means I can take better advantage of pound shops and Home Baargins in the pedestrianised town centre as well as giving me a good workout if I have to (or choose to) drag the thing into and out of town. I have even seen students at our university with them - sure beats lugging zillions of books around.
I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Why am I the only person in my entire family who thinks that an empty loo roll inner sitting atop the cistern or on the bathroom windowsill is not the height of indoor chic?
Probably waiting for the fairies to come and wind on some replacement toilet paper. One life - your life - live it!0 -
Incidentally, I too have a trolley in a psychedelic purple design. It sits in the boot of my car, waiting for me to use it. Keep forgetting it's there, though. Maybe one day......One life - your life - live it!0

My arms are still aching, and I'm sure I'll feel it tonight, so the light weight nature of yours does sound worth it.
If you have a market anywhere near you they usually have stalls that sell handbags, luggage and a fairly good selection of shopping trollies.
My only tip is size, not too big so that you dislocate a shoulder pulling it and not so small you can only fit a loaf and a pint of milk in.
Happy trollying. I've had my two wheel tartan servant for a long time, sadly it looks it too, might be joining you in the new trolley hunt.0 -
Another thumbs up for trollies. I fought like mad against having one, (only for old people you know,) but absolutely adore my purple number. It's a talking point in the check-out queue and my arms are gradually retracting.
7WW: even if it makes your friend feel a bit weepy, she will feel supported just by the fact that you remembered and cared.
maryb: We don't have an empty loo roll atop the cistern (due to my vigilance!) but we do have a 10p. A friend came to visit this week and announced that she was off to use our loo. The Rev said that times were hard and we've started charging for use of facilities. After friend had gone we found the 10p sitting on the cistern. We immediately sent a text saying that 10p was a bit stingy in view of the luxurious nature of the said loo. Back came a text saying that this was, of course, AFTER tax. We're going to leave it there to see if it collects any more contributions.
Our 2 apologies for celebration cakes are sitting on the table. Mine looks as though it has had a night on the tiles and the Rev's looks as though it has done 10 rounds with Joe Frazier and lost. Poor little Mia, her grandmother Monna and her Granny God have let her down big time, but it's just as well that she gets used to us and her Christening is a good time for a reality check.
I'll try to make up for it tomorrow by producing sausage rolls, mini
quiches, brownies, sandwiches, cakes etc. etc.
Better go to bed and get my strength up.

I used to have the same problem 'til hubby decided he needed the empty rolls to grow leeks in.

Heavy lying snow here and the world has turned white again. I've got cabin fever. I really need to get out and shoot a bear. Or something.0

Good morning toughies,
SQ see everything was good, Im glad you can even do the other course.
7WW It nice that you are able to still think of your friend and remember her mums passing. We took my mum out for lunch to raise a glass to my dad. A card and flowers will be lovely, maybe agreeing to a free hour that day or nearby to have a nice catch up over a coffee or glass of vino. What lovely careing friend you are.
Re the trolley, we got my mum a trolley from the coop, was just over £20 but it was in the sale and has proved to be excellent. Mum uses it when her and a friend go on coach trips for the day. They put their picnic in and then should it turn warm the put their coat in too. It also gives her some freedom if she wants to go shopping on her own. Mum has a navy and cream striped trolley very stylist - she wouldn't have the animal print ones!!
Maryb, in our house they leave the empty loo roll on the holder and don't even put a new roll out. It was even worse when I had the other 2 kids at home.
It is very windy here, just a shame I have no washing to do. It would have dried in a nano second.
Well need to get sorted out, seems I have taxi duties with DD who stayed out last night and OH will be home shortly. Seems I need to clear up all the mud from the hall floor he kindly left there.
take care xBSC member 137
