Hi Fuddle So very pleased for you, about your new job and pleased for you all too that Alfie will be grand too. You sound such a lovely person, so caring and hard working and wanting to do your very best for your family. Take good care, and enjoy it all. Margaretx

  • Hello to Lottiesmum and Smooch

Had a lovely evening in with friends last night. I made the Hairy Dieters Cassoulet but in the slow cooker not the oven. They enjoyed themselves (our friends not the bikers) but I think invites out as a family to dinner are a bit thin on the ground now they have 3 kids.

New job continues to go well. I love learning new things and I am now involved in areas at work that I have not studied since I was a student in the mid 80's.

    Congrats on your job fuddle.

Have always wanted a casserole dish that you could use on the hob and in the oven. One of my sisters has given me her vouchers for the Pyrex offer so I bought the 3ltr dish they had on offer. I also used some of the vouchers they sent me including, money off, extra points, double up points and £4 off a £40 shop. This included money off fresh pork and turkey and I found both of these with a YS so did very well on them. Grocery shopping is becoming an art form in itself.

I understand nothing about paying tax. I have had a letter from the Tax Office saying that my tax code has changed and I am now allowed to earn more before I pay tax. As of the end of Feb I have had a pay rise. Is it normal that if you earn a bit more you pay less tax or has someone made a mistake?
I am playing all of the right notes just not necessarily in the right order :D.

I have a le creuset one I bought years ago in France and it's brilliant. There are many cheaper imitations around which, I am sure, are just as good.

Mrs VP- there may have been an increase in personal allowances that your last employer didnt put through for you. But I would contact your tax office - because realistically your tax code is supposed to say the same on the whole. There are exceptions but I cant think of any that would make your code go down.

I have been off to the out of hours doctor today - I woke with my ear all funny, sore and almost deaf in it. Was pleasantly surprised to find one of my own GPs on duty, who saw DS9 this week, he asked how he was doing before he looked at my ear. I have an infection so more antibiotics.
  • Hi all, delurking to say I think all code numbers are changing in April so we earn more before we pay tax. Could be wrong though!

As from 1st april the majority of people can earn 9500 before paying any tax. I get a little more because after martins advise I claimed for washing my uniform at home and I back dated it too..... Every little helps.

Had a very lazy day apart from taking OH to Matalan to buy a suit for a wedding. Got him a nice black pinstripe one with a matching waistcoat.

Mrs vegplot, I ignored the tesco offer of the pyrex dishes because I thought it was going to be another really expensive con like the pans they did. Oh came out of the petrol station the other day with 5 of the stamps he got and 5 more that a lady in front of him gave him so I looked and they are really useful and a bargain to boot! I think I may get the small ones so I can do portions and freeze them.

Nipped in Mr M late in today while we were out and it was chaos, wondered if they knew something I didnt :D like the end of the world or worse a Bank holiday  Barely a whoopsie in sight, just a very ratty butcher trying to avoid giving anyone a bargain, pretending to tidy up with the reduction gun in his pocket

thats just wrong Mardatha, taxing pensioners more  especially those who have to scrimp and scrape. Its not bl**dy income its what you paid into for goodness sake.
