I agree Mrs LW - the absolute cheek! Anyway if you are not claiming jobseekers, if won't make any difference to you will it?

Fuddle forget the agency and concentrate on your interview. Sending you lots and lots of luck. I find it helps to breathe a bit more slowly and deeply than usual and repeat a mantra to calm down. I tried "I can do it, I can do it" before my volunteer interview and it really helped.

Go show 'em what you're made of girl!

I in the middle of a massive mess. You know sometimes when you have to make a mess to get tidy? Well you do if you have lots of stuff - attempting to sort kids' toys and books etc - our living room and their bedroom is not a pretty site!

Fuddle, I'll just second what Lyn's said - and how on earth can they report you to DWP if you're not claiming JSA? Barmy!! Messaged you on fbk, hoping all was ok as not heard from you for a while. Fingers crossed for your interview xo.

It's bitterly cold here, taking the littlies to a party after school, then will be battening down the hatches for another cold night. DH and I didn't sleep too well as we were so cold last night, then discovered this morning that the window had been left open! Only a tiny bit, but was enough to let in some Arctic air! :rotfl:

Eldest DD says she's moving at the end of the month - after all her money woes she reckons she'll be about £40 a month better off, but not hopeful she'll save it or pay off her debts! I'm just waiting for the "can you lend me the bond" 'phone call!!

Fuddle - I'd better not write my opinion of the agency person or all you'll see will be a load of exclaimation marks - lol! Good luck with your interview, sounds much more you. X

Exciting morning here at stiltwalkerville, dropped DD off at nursery then went to pay money into bank from Saturday. Came home and sat waiting for my email to go ping with the CC of the email charity sent to supplier confirming funds, when it arrived I promptly phoned the supplier up and put order in for the buggy! Parted with same large sum of money as had just gone in and all we need to do now is send off the voucher and wait for the call (in 4-6 weeks) saying that the buggy is ready for delivery.

I am so relieved that it is now ordered - just need to nurse the old one along for a few more weeks of creaking and groaning and backache then - joy of joys - the little stiltwalkers will have luxury transportation! (and I will be able to push it more easily) I have been both encouraged and humbled by people's generosity and I feel much happier about the future of humanity - in our little community and beyond.

Just have our thank you letters to write now.

Take care all - hugs X
  • STILTWALKER Hi HELEN that must have been such a satisfying feeling, so impressed with you and your friends and familys fundraising efforts, so very well done all of you.

We have just had the loveliest lunch I wanted something warm but healthy as we are being snowed on today and found several veggie stew recipes which I sort of combined and put my own touches into, was yummy

    Lyns Veg Stew

    I large onion
    2 leeks
    2 carrots
    2 stalks of celery
    1 green pepper
    1 tin chopped tomatoes
    a few mushrooms
1 tin beans (I used red kidney) of your choice
    1 teaspoon of smoked paprika
    1 teaspoon of ordinary paprika
    1 teaspoon of carraway seeds
    salt and pepper
    some olive oil
    2 tablespoons plain yoghurt

Chop up all the veg. Some oil in a heavy pan and sweat the carrot, leeks, onions, celery and green pepper with a lid on for 10 mins. Add tomatoes, mushrooms, beans, paprikas, carraway seeds and seasoning (No added liquid) and simmer for about 20 - 25 minutes until the carrots are softening. Check seasoning and adjust if necessary. Stir in the yoghurt to the stew. We had it on jacket roasted sweet potato halves, but it is so nice it would go with rice, cous cous,or mash just as well. Really reasonable as I had all the ingredients in already. I shall make it a regular addition to our economy meals, Cheers Lyn xxx. I put a sprinkling of grated cheese over it too, Mmmmmmmm!!!

Is there any way of stopping the whole house reeking of turnip when you cook it??? Its hellish.
  • No, other than use something else. Is it white turnip or yellow swede (sorry, we english aren't normal when it comes to turnip names!), the only thing I could think might work would be to pressure cook it and get rid of the water as quickly as you can after it's done and give the whole sink a good rinse, that might help. sorry I can't come up with anything better for an answer, Cheers Lyn xxx

Lol hellish where I come from means really good!

All ok cheaps :) I'm alright. Been quiet as with Mother's Day etc and busy. Sat last night swatting up on early years framework.

Been to nursery. My worst nightmare! Very steep hill and snow. Even though gritted I still wimped out and parked in the village and walked round to the farm (its on a farm). Preppers amongst us would have been howling at me walking in the snow in my little ballet pumps. Shocking behaviour mrs fuddle :p so went to me interview with wet feet. 30 minute interview and I think I did really well! I'm going back tomorrow with my wellies to do half days work to see if I have the skills that I talk about. :D we're going out in the fields.

Much more me, stiltwalker I agree :) so fingers crossed for me. At least it wasn't a point blank no. The owner also owns the nursery over from me and said there was a position there too. She said she'll collate the CV's and see what is what but the farm nursery manager seems to have me in her sights. She knits and crochets too so think that swung it ;) she said it was a change from students saying they like playing computer games.

    Looking positive isnt it? :)

  • Good FUDDLE, see you are good employable material, and hopefully they saw your little wet feet and thought Dunkirk Spirit (getting there at whatever cost to you) this is a really good 'un!!! If you get a choice of two vacancies in different places that would be fine, you could opt for the most suitable one for you, hope it all goes well tomorrow, will keep everything crossed for you, well done pet, Cheers Lyn xxx.
