Hi All
Fingers crossed for you Fuddle you certainly deserve some good news.
StiltwalkerGreat result for you too
Monnagran[/B Had to go out this morning & I could see the snowy fields on the Island - it looked very pretty as the sun had just come out this side.
Spoke to DSiL yesterday - they have closed the isolation ward to visitors  not sure what's going on so I'll call her today & see if she has any more news. The plus side is the hospital is right in the middle of all the jams due to the snow so at least no one is travelling in this horrid weather but that means Niece isn't getting any visitorsbut hopefully they'll get things sorted quickly.
Hope everyone has a good daySmall victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
I'm back from my half day. Car isn't going into the garage till Thursday now and by gosh it needs it. Really rattling now.
I've been with the toddlers and loved every minute of it. The nursery manager has put me in with her sister in their room. She is looking beyond my experience and thinks my caring nature is suited to the smaller ones. I was dubious if im honest but I have enjoyed it so much. On the way out she said that she would call me this afternoon or tomorrow as need to speak again with owner, that she has more interviews but also told me not to get down heartened about that, sai her sister doesn't like new members of staff or students but would have me no problem. She said that if her sister says yes then I must have impressed! She did ask how quickly I could sort childcare out.
But nothing concrete to tell you, I still don't know but I'm feeling very optimistic about it.0 -
WOW FUDDLE that sounds hopeful doesn't it? Brilliant news, you will let us know as soon as you do won't you, please? Keeping everything crossed for you, Love Lyn xxx.0

Afternoon everyone:) I hope you are all managing to keep warm somehow. We are finding it so cold here but are lucky enough not to have any lying snow although it is snowing lightly in this terrble wind.
We are supposed to be off to the New Forest next week for 10 days -in our caravan:eek: I love it so much and we go often, but this cold weather brrrrrrrrrrrrr
We spent all of yesterday evening at the hospital with my DMiL. She had a bad fall at her NH and has broken her arm, damaged her previously broken hip and sustained a really nasty bang and cut to her head. We couldn't believe it when they discharged her back to her NH at around midnight in this freezing weather! She is 92 years old and so frail, we were so shocked when she was discharged, what on earth is happening in our NHS! Adding more misery to injury, she had to be transported back to the hospital at 10am this morning to attend the fracture clinic. She's 92 for goodness sake! Couldn't they have just let her rest at the hospital for one night???? The freezing weather alone was painful enough for anyone last night let alone a frail elderly lady. It's just shocking.
I agree with you over the prices rises MrsL and have been noticing it for weeks. We no longer buy any cereal other than oats -I refuse to pay the prices. We struggle to keep anywhere close to our food budget and yet I am sure we are much more fortunate than some poor souls and we are finding it increasingly hard to keep the house warm enough despite the heating being on 24/7. We were so cold when we arrived home last night we even had to take hot water bottles to bed. I don't know when or if this will all end.
Thinking of all of your with your own indiviual problems and worries and hoping that you can all keep reasonably warm and well.
PS. I really missed my DM on Mothering Sunday, she passed away just over two years ago, but is never forgotton. I miss her love, friendship and wisdom as I do my DD who passed away nearly 15 years ago. They will never be forgotton. I hope those of you who are Mums managed to have as lovely a day as I did with my 2 DSs and my DH. I know I am blessed.Sealed Pot Challenge 7 Member 022 :staradmin:staradmin:staradmin

hi everyone, its baltic here but fortunatley no snow. Today is the 2 year anniversary of my dads passing. We have had quite a nice day so far. Mum came with me, OH and both my girls for a pub lunch, was nice to raise a glass to him.
Fuddle, this sounds very promising with the nursery job.
We too have noticed the prices creeping up on basic everyday essentials. We are lucky in that we have a heron freezer place in our town, so unbranded bargains can be found. We have started to eat a lot more frozen stuff, mainly as its cheaper. Any bits left over are frozen into ready meals.
We have put the heating on, and i expect it will be on for a while yet. The whole house feels so cold, even though it isnt. The sky is really grey. no clouds so i expect more snow is on the way.
Off to out the kettle on, and have 5 minutes 'me' time.

Afternoon all - I am supposed to be cleaning the kitchen but seem to be "doing a Hester"
and finding all sorts of other things to do instead. Yesterday it was an intensive baking session, today the laundry seems more enticing.
I am also on a "fast" day of the 5:2 diet and not finding it so easy, I am persevering as the benefits to my <<ahem>> digestive system are amazing and there has been no acid reflux since I started. Boy is it tough though - my egg white omelette for breakfast and carrot soup for lunch don't seem very sustaining. I have splashed out on some MandS cod with noodles for tea.
Trying hard not to mention the weather, but it is not easy is it? At least two more weeks they reckon  I am going to have to emigrate I think:cool:I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Fuddle, glad it went well today
Gorgeous sunshine here but god it's freezing!! Still no snow0 -
Be thankful you didn't get the snow, it's been chaos around here, so many people stranded in cars overnight. The buses started running out of the village about an hour ago so DD1s boyfriend has managed to start his journey home. Still 5 ft drifts in some of the back lanes. Just about managing to keep the house warm without the boiler but moving from room to room is an experience....the loo seat's mighty cold too!
I noticed the food price rises too, had a voucher for Mr S that seemed worth the effort but I could have still got it cheaper elsewhere. But some of the items were a 20/30p rise from before Christmas. We don't eat meat every day but at this rate we won't be eating anything. So heartbreaking to see sugar laden treats on offer cheaper than fresh veg and fruit. My grocery budget needs retweaking I think. Luckily our fuel supplier just put our Direct debit down from £65 to £39. I did argue with them a few months ago that it needed to be lower but they couldn't change it and give us the £200 odd back that we were in credit by. Seems their system has updated itself now and the extra £26 PCM will come in very handy."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
Mrs LW,
my daffs have done the same thing and they are in quite a sheltered spot, they do look so sad.
Like you I was hoping for a cheery spring spot of brightness, I didn't really want a drunken down and out look from mini daffs.0
