Morning Toughies - snow here in southern Hampshire - not settling on the roads (yet) Hope it goes away soon.
Took SiL & her Grandson over to see Niece yesterday. Poor girl has a blood infection & is in the isolation ward, so SiL & I both thought septacemia (sp?) but Dr on rounds said they didn't think so. They are culturing her blood to identify & have to treat that before she goes onto the stroke ward - SiL said she was no worse but no better so I am trying to keep her spirits up by saying at least she is holding her own. Maybe more news today when consultants etc do their rounds. Fingers crossed.
We had left home about 11 am yesterday & got back about 7.30. DS2 had phoned me to say he's left 'something' tucked behind my bins as we were out. There was a lovely flower arrangment & he's put the card through the door - it had such lovely words I had a sniffle.

DH & I both sat in bed yesterday morning remembering our respective Mums. Pops my mum was born in the midlands & she had the deeds to the grave of her parents so although she was cremated down here I took her ashes & had them buried with her mum & dad. I've decided I want mine to be scattered in a local wooded area that I love. There are some very ancient protected trees there so they could do with some bone meal!

Ah well - must get on today - washing machine packed up on Saturday so new one ordered. Really pushed the boat out & decided to have a new tumble drier too. Old TD on freecycle (looked at handbook & its 28 years old) but still works although a bit noisy. Stuff being delivered later this week so washing will have to pile up - haha
Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle

Silvasava - hope you get some news from the consultants soon, Thinking of you and your family.

Nutty - glad's all well - shame we don't have a crystal ball huh?

We have a little weak sunshine here but on the school run we had snow and some overnight too. Boys were disappointed they had to go to school.

I have lots to do and no enthusiasm whatsover. Also feel a bit yukky, sore thoat etc. Hope not coming down with something as have a really busy week especially from Fri to next Tues.

Have been trying to get through (using free mobile credit) on a booking line for kids' school holiday activities but just keep getting recorded message. Then our home phone rings and its someone trying to get through to the same booking line. The phone numbers are totally different - how bizzare?

Ok eaten enough bread and jam to feed the street so no more excuses, into the kitchen and make a start. Have made a list to tick off - groan - will report back later with progress.

Morning all! Its taken me ages to catch up since i posted last week. I cant remember details so hugs to all in need of them.

My mothers day was rather nice (for a change) I received 2 lots of breakfast in bed as darling son forgot to the slightly important bit of making sure i was awake for the first lot. I woke up to a plate of soggy cold toast and a cup of cold tea with a thick brown scum on top. yummy! He then made me another breakfast and it was lovely. I also got sweets, a teddy, a pen and a mug along with a large card signed by my 4 children. Spoilt or what?

We have had some snow flurries this morning and are expecting more throughout the day. I bet it doesnt settle though.

    Morning all :)

Been snowing all morning here but so light it's not settled, pah! I LOVE snow!

Today I really need to have a washing session as lots piling up (clean and dirty, lol). Going to lunch with OH and mum and then having friends over for dinner so need to prep that. Only doing sausage and mash but need to go buy potato's and prep them :)

When I get off the sofa...
  • SILVASAVA sorry to hear your poor niece has a blood infection to add to the other problems, I hope the medics can sort that out quickly and then get her on to the stroke ward to start rehab. Pleased that you got to see her though with your SIL and her GS, hope it all works out well, as it is so stressful for you all, thinking of her, Cheers Lyn xxx.

Glad you got some lovely flowers when you got home, something to lighten the day yes?

    Hello everyone. :)

About to go get ready for my job interview at 2pm. I have no clue where I'm going (15 miles away) but do have a sat nav so should be ok. It keeps snowing! And worried about the broken underside of the car. I'm very nervous and letting things get on top of me. I'm not in the 'right place' to have another rejection. Still, have to in there with my enthusiasm in tact and just damn well try.

£620 is what it will cost per month for both my children to go to before and after school club. I am so bitter about that figure, so bitter that I don't have family members that can do the care for me. I'm wondering whether to blooming' well bother!

As you can most probably tell, I'm not at all in a good place and need to try to calm, relax and regroup somewhat. I need my unflappable determination back.
  • Hey FUDDLE you just go in to that interview and be you, that is good enough for any employer!!! You are a hard working, enthusiastic, responsible, able and articulate person with good experience to boot, no one can ask for anything more, besides which you are a nice person too, go get that job!!!!!!!! you'll be fine, Cheers Lyn xxx anna slurp from Docky for luck!!!

It's fffffffffffreezing here, lots of snow and snowing sideways, upwards and downwards and round in swirly whirls. DD2s school has just closed so she's making her way home. The plumber is here so no heating or water.....the kittens are all huddled in front of the fire, I might join them!

Fuddle - you'll be able to get some tax credit help towards your child are costs so it's not all doom and gloom. Good luck for the interview.

I'm just fretting incase they do what the last nursery did and go with someone with no experience so 'they can train them to their standards' and pay them less than they would have to pay me.

I will, ill just be me and hopefully this nursery (its looks lovely) are in it for the long haul and looking for good members of staff.

Took a phone call from that damn agency this morning. They want to put me through for an apprentice at £2.65 an hour. I declined because I'm 33 and have a chance of getting into the work place with my quals/experience, I would feel bad taking a youngsters place, they need all the help I can get! But my answer, which is true too, was that £2.65 wouldn't cover my childcare costs. I was told a refusal would be reported back to DWP. Toughies, the case worker for the agency got what was coming to her... Sharp shrift from me. It's probably the adrenaline from that which has got me a bit quivvery now. Still, I don't claim job seekers and didn't appreciate being manipulated in that way. Ate the hence likely to make money be referring me for an apprenticeship?
  • The absolute nerve of them, they phone you and interview you for a job that you are qualified for and then call you in to thier office to tell you they are an agency and there is no job, then they insult you by offering you an apprenticeship at £2,65 an hour which you sensibly decline for valid reasons, THEN they say they will refer you to the DWP??????? beggars belief, the consummate nerve of the whole thing, I'd have blown several gaskets, so I'm really glad you broadsided the stupid woman with all guns blazing, well done you, proud of you, how the hell are they still in business??? So angry on your behalf, a very cross (but not with you)Lyn xxx.
