VJs - how'd your DDs first date go?
Oh <<<groan>>> don't ask. Well, thanks for asking, but you know what I mean. Not well, to be fair right from the beginning she wasn't sure if it was a date or a mates thing but it was all going well until he casually mentioned that he had a GIRLFRIEND  Seems a bit odd to me - it's not like he and DD are old mates, so for him to go out with another girl is strange. I wonder if the girlfriend knows.
DD is taking the melodramatic route through heartbreak - as ever . I feel for her though as it is a horrid feeling. Hopefully she will be on to the next soon.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Pooky - we have a dog already, and a dogs coat isnt as soft and its the sensory touch of the fur that is of major importance. Ironically if he wanted to cuddle the dog, our dog is stupid enough to sit all day on his knee being stroked. Of course he is 115lb of pure bred Labrador so knee sitting is a bit awkward
Am feeling more positive today simply getting the form so far done in one night has boosted me, I have been putting this off for months and finding excuses, last night was the push I needed to get going and am pleased its nearly complete.
Families - well my lot are no angels, my hope is that I can pass onto my kids a new generation of family.
VJsmum - it sounds as though he is in sensory overload, a busy classroom will be noisy with lots of things that arent necessarily even obvious to the non-auty person, noise from computers, projectors screens etc its a nightmare. Would school allow him a quiet zone he can flee to when he feels he isnt coping?0 -
Pardon me for asking Kidcat, since as I'm typing it, it seems a fairly odd thought, but I figured I'd ask anyway: Does the fur have to be attached to a living cat? Or would something like a mink coat provide the same sort of sensory stimulation?Softstuff- Officially better than 0070

Just caught up with the last few pages - with tears streaming down my face at how so many of you 'Toughies' are coping with problems & issues not of your making.
I wish I could do something but all I can offer is an enormous hug and a wish for you all to keep finding that inner strength to plough on and do what you can to cope with the stresses that these toxic relationships bringSmall victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -

He had a couple of good runs with a few of his pals this morning and I wonder if he has pulled something. If he is still uncomfortable tomorrow we shall have to visit the vetty person for some anti inflammatories for him. He has a sad little face anyway but at the moment he looks really sad!!!!! Poor Docky Dog!
Hope he is feeling better this morning?0 -

My friend said a similar thing, we tried with a really soft cushion and throw he said he missed the heartbeat though. But yes its a good idea thank you.0 -
Kidicat: Is your son currently in main stream school? Are there specialist schools to help in your area?
It's great that something like a cat can really help himany thoughts on how you'll chose a cat?

Ah, yes.
In that case, this is the cat I immediately thought of, though you probably have researched it anyway:

I believe they do and he has permission to just get up and leave a classroom but he doesn't always remember to do it. He is a lovely boy, friendly and chatty, but he doesn't cope well in a school environment. Friend says her other son, also autistic, was the opposite - fine at school and then a nightmare at home. They have now excused son 2 from PE - she told them that to arm him with a hockey stick was frankly asking for it so now he just runs laps round the field.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Morning all, Hugs to all of you, wether you need them or not!!!
ALFSMUM thanks for asking about the dockling, he seems to be a little easier this morning and has been for a walk with He Who Knows These Things and is currently curled up asleep in his armchair. If he isn't right tomorrow I'm afraid it will be the vet, I can't bear it when he is uncomfortable like this!!
Take care all of you, Cheers Lyn xxx.0
