Good early evening everyone, OH has rang to say we should go out. Hmmmmm no we cant it will cost far too much so we are getting a meal deal from mr T when he gets home with the clubcard coupon that has arrived!!

Unixgirl and katie, sorry your having a bad time. thinking of you here. stiltwalker, you go with the OU course. I wish i was brave enough to start one, i would ove to go 'back to school' just to prove i CAN still learn new things. Somedays just getting the daily chores done is a struggle, so how you cope i dont know. I really admire your determination.

Youngest DD got a valentine gift from her boyfriend, homemade card, homemade chocolates, a cd he made of her favourite songs and then a small bunch of carnations. Spoilt, but extra special as he put so much effort in doing it all himself. Hes 17 like her. The other DD dint get anything from her fiance, he is cooking her a meal. But i know secretly he has bought her a small treat. They decided not to get cards etc as they live together and everyday is special!!

    Take care everyone x

Logically I know that really Molly - though with the amount of appointments my guys have I'll need a very understanding boss even once they are at school!

Where is the quote about courage from in you sig? - it's cracking! and definately something that rings true with me.

It is my own and anyone is very welcome to use it as a mantra x
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

    *hugs* Katieowl and Unixgirl.

Sorry I haven't been around more or more supportive, but just didn't feel I had anything to give right now. Have had a tough time (stomach packed up again, leg is bad, hubby is ill, air-cons in other units burst into flames and suspected cost of replacing ours is $10,000..... and so on. Oh, and it was my birthday Monday, and I couldn't even have cake.).

As regards being unappreciated by a man, it occurs to me that it's sometimes a whole lot simpler to be alone and have all your efforts go to making yourself happier, than to waste a tonne of effort on an ungrateful !!!!!! and make yourself miserable in the process.

That said, I still understand why you're with them.

Unixgirl, I have a feeling it would be worse to have a kid with a selfish man than not to have one at all. Though, I never had a biological clock and couldn't have kids now even if I had wanted to, so I appreciate that my perspective doesn't take broodiness into account.

In any case, love to all that need it and all the hugs I can give.
    xx

  • Stiltwalker i didnt work for 20 years for similar reasons and now have a job i love which has built on the strengths of my experiences. Chin up pet, getting that dla result is always a downer but put it behind you and focus on the benefits it brings - you need every tool possible in you armoury and dla is just that.

  • How come you get all the action, Softstuff? All we've had is a run of 40C days and 26C nights. The hammock is slung under the tree, and the washing dries in the basket before I can hang it out.

There's been more inaction than action here Prudence :rotfl: I'd send you some of our rain, but it doesn't sound like you'd appreciate it with the hammock and all. My washing is currently hung out on the balcony, despite the rain, with the hope it may one day dry. Maybe I should send you my laundry also....

In a former life (before re-retraining) I was a paediatric Occupational Therapist. I used to be at my most busiest during school holidays. A lot of my work was based in school with occasional visits home afterwards. Therefore there is the definite potential that you will be able to negotiate a school hours contract or flexible working. Remember there is the legislation in place that must allow parents/ carers the option of flexible working - my husband makes up his hours in the evening when I have had an appointment and that is the case for both parents so perhaps you can work out an arrangement with your husband.

I hope you feel brighter this morning x

  • Morning all,

I hope everyone is doing ok.

Hugs to Softstuff (but not too much - we don't want to make your stomach even worse;)), hope life picks up soon. And to Stiltwalker - you must be going through a real roller-coster of emotions with DS's assessment.

And KateOwl, I wish to register a complaint ;), once I'd assembled the Jamie Oliver cake it was so big it only just fitted in the cake tin. If this becomes a regular cake I'm going to have to get a taller tin:rotfl:

The sun is shining here, I just hope it sticks around for the weekend.

    Take care all.

Morning toughies, We have a small slightly hidden yellow ball trying to peep through the few clouds. So hopefully a slightly dryer and warmer day today.

Hope everyone managed to get through VD yesterday. Eldest DD reported she recieved a valentines present, it was a set of speakers for her car!! She said im glad i dont do flowers and chocolates! I bought her a small bunch of tulips the day before tho.
My valentine days treat was a trip to mr T to do the shopping, we used the vouchers we had recieved, i wanted to keep them and double them up or save them but times are hard. We manged to do this week for under £30. After the voouchers i had found, ended up paying less than £8 in cash. If anyone wants some mr t vouchers try supersavvyme dot co dot uk. They have vouchers for washing gel, washing up liquid etc etc. Also some for boots but i dont go there very often.

Well i hope everyone has a good day today, its nearly the weekend!!!! we should all get me time then, i wish !!! take care x x x

Mum has rang to say she will be back from holiday this morning and i would be needed for taxi duties. She doesnt ask my brother/SIL as its always too much effort. Funny how they will find time when they want to go out, and mum is needed to stayover with the 3 kids tho.
