Kidcat Biggest hugs. I've been thinking of you all day.

Stiltwalker Yay for Master Stiltwalker. You have two very determined , independent children to be very proud of. It's so easy to do things for them rather than watch them struggle, but you seem to be a natural at bringing out the best. We have a small friend who has the same walker as Miss Stiltwalker and when she stalks off with my son to explore something new I never know whether to laugh at her determination or cry at her bravery. When you talk about the little Siltwalkers it makes me feel the same. You're a fabulous mummy.

Unix We'll have our fingers and paws crossed for you here.

I get the bad mummy award this week for leaving the door to the hamster cage open. Luckily I shut the boy's bedroom door, so the cats didn't find her first. The other lucky thing is that like all other things in this house (including the fish) she has trained herself to come for food at the sound of my voice. As soon as I spoke she popped up on top of a teddy bears head and was re-caged with her supper.

We have thunder here tonight. We did have sharp pointy rain earlier, but no snow as yet. I had physiotherapy today which made my back sore so have mostly sat round doing very little. I will be a blur of activity tomorrow to catch up :rotfl:

Oh cranky - Ds14 did that when he had a ham, took me three days to find it, and by that time it had wandered down a flight of stairs and had a swim in the dog bowl, :) thankfully he survived but it was a heartstopping moment.

Thank you for your thoughts, I am aware I cannot keep this up for any real length of time, thankfully I am able to come home six oclockish and recharge ready for the next day.
  • Kidcat, just dropping by to wish you strength and courage at the moment. You are doing a wonderful thing for your Uncle and cousins. Take care of yourself - and I hope you are able to recharge and get some rest overnight. Thinking of you. xx

Started using cream on my 'tache when I was about 17, that worked for years, around 40 I started to shave, which worked well...by then there was a lot more than a tache. Had the lot threaded in London a few year ago, horribly painful but very cheap and fast. Eventually about 3 years ago I began to have electrolysis and have now reached a stage where I only need 5 mins every couple of weeks....am so pleased that I did this as it was the one area of my appearance which drove me nuts.

Rest well Kidcat, thinking of you and your family.

    Stiltwalker....what clever children you have!

Aiming for an early night. Sleep well all and stay warm

KIDCAT...have another hug from me ((((hug)))

Well I'm all ready for the market. Going to have a bit of a bath now. It's blowing a HOOLIE outside and the internet keeps going down  I have to say OH's half baked theory that it's the wind that looses the connection is seeming a bit more plausable tonight.

I'm getting a visit in June from someone I've not seen since I was 23  A bit unexpected but I'm sure it will be lovely. She's american, her sister worked for the company I did when I was 18, and when she came to London, she asked me to mind her sister a bit...which I did, she was very exotic to us - LOL! I'm not quite sure how we got back in touch, but her sister has a very unusual name, and I spotted it in something online one day, and e-mailled her to say are you the XXXX XXXX who worked at XXXX XXXX in the late 1970's and she'd got her sister online to me within half an hour. We've very vaguely kept in touch by e-mail, and about a week ago she e-mailled me to say she would be in London for a wedding in June and could she come and see me. I pointed out that I was a fair old hike from london, but she's not dissuaded and is making travel plans. She's going to book into the B&B as a paying guest...as she said she'd not impose and go to a B&B and I said don't be daft I AM a B&B....so she said she'd rather pay us! A little bit of me is :j:T and :D and a little bit of me is  People don't change that much do they???

Evening everyone, thank you for all the positive messages. It means a lot to me.

    Kidcat ((((Hugs))))

Tina, don't feel bad about not being able to make the journey. Be thankful you weren't stuck in it when it started. I had to take OH to work and what started as light snow where we are turned into a blizzard on the motorway. I hate driving in those conditions. Back home now, logged into the tarot but so far only had one heavy breather (I get a message at the start of the call so I know its a tarot one, there are 'other' lines for that sort of stuff so why didn't they call one of those?.... weird), we get them on the line every so often and mostly we just laugh at them. Hey, we're getting paid and don't have to work!

Its very cold, the heating has clicked off now but the living room is still nice and warm and I have my thick fleece dressing gown on over my clothes so I'm snug.

Kidcat, huge respect to you. I hope that you have support from somewhere for yourself.
Unixgirl - I had to set up a company to get paid for a 10 week job and I've had one for my current job for over 3 years now. I figured the hassle put people off applying!

I am very lucky, I inherited my mum's near flawless adult skin (though flaws are creeping in post 50) so I haven't worn foundation since I was a spotty teenage herbert.

I do wear good moisturiser and usually one with sunscreen, Aldi's Lacura stuff is great, though I also keep an eye open for Olay on offer.

The gods didn't put everything my way, my hair is very fine and my legs are like footballers' - the skin was my one bit of luck.

I normally do a full head hair colour (medium brown) but I'm going to go extreme MSE and use half of a £1 colour to do a roots touch up with the brush from an old roots kit. If the chemicals stay unmixed in tube and bottle I should be OK.

    Keeping warm...
Primarni had footwarmers in with an integral HWB, reduced from £8 to £4. The ankle cuffs for the foot insert were far too small for my chunky pins, so they have been carefully removed and my feet are sat in a state of bliss. Leopardskin pattern fabric for the warmer, but you can't have everything.

I am pleased that I had the courage to remove the ankle cuffs, the usual "me thing" would have been to give the warmer to someone else, and I do really need it, as cold feet are a problem on my laminate floors.

My netbook sits on a beanbag tray and the heat generated is great at keeping my lap warm. I have a plastic heated footrest that Amazon sent me to review, but I found the hard plastic painful for my plantar fasciitis.
Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.

Hugs Kidcat. Thinking of you at this difficult time, hope you manage to find a little space to keep you sane - even if it is only 5 minutes for a brew. X

Unix - sorry forgot to say good luck with the interview, I'll keep my fingers crossed and don't worry, you'll be great.

Katie - How exciting, hope it all goes well.

Lyn - Thanks for remembering how clever DD is too - she did her usual trick of also doing something really good so as not to be outdone by her brother and signed her way through dinner like a pro!

Sorry if I've forgotten anyone - should be in bed really as I'm shattered after chasing round after DS all day but my brain is still going 90 miles an hour as usual.

Hugs where needed or wanted. X
  • Morning Toughies, what a night!!!!!!! Was woken up by hail on the windows at 1.30 am followed by the whole house shuddering as the wind took the bolt, catch and ground bolt off the back gate in one huge gust and slammed it full force against the house wall. I couldn't sleep so took bedding down to the lounge and tried to get comfy on the sofa. Cue entrance of the lurcher, who wanted to go out!!! So had to venture out and sort out the gate or he'd have gone walkabout, this duly done I returned to let him out to find him fast asleep on most of the sofa and my duvet. He stuck like a limpet so very uncomfortable night and not much sleep. Eventually got the sofa to myself at 6 ish and guess what, 6.45 He Who Knows woke up early and came down to make tea - I think it's going to be a loooooooooooooooong old day!!! OK whinge over!!!

KIDCAT you are the backbone of your entire family, I'm very glad that you have made such a difference to the whole sad situation, you are a very very good and strong person, your family probably won't say it but you should be very proud of what you have done for your uncle and his kids, it is a privelege to know you.

UNIXGIRL congrats on getting the second interview, hope all goes the way you want it to.

Hope you are all safe after the wild night and weather and that you stay warm and dry today. Currently blue sky and sun down here with a much lighter breeze but the forecast is promising much wilder for this area later on today, probably not snow but definately much colder. Look after yourselves, Cheers Lyn xxx.
