I love that last bit kez
Thank you for the heads up about book people. I'm going to go have a look at children's books as we give our two a gift of a book at Easter instead of eggs. May just have a go at making our own eggs this year. Seen some mouldsProbably more expensive but more fun.
I shall go look at your valentines board Possession
We have got to crate train Alfie again. That's DogsTrust advice for an over excitable dog. He has to learn that when there's a knock at the door he goes into his crate for food reward so ultimately more fun than a stranger coming in. We crate trained him when he was a pup for separation/toileting issues and it does work, I just didn't think I'd be doing it again. He's around 10 in dog years so a pre-teen and to expect elements of his behaviour to get worse before he calms into a mature dog. They are lending us a crate thank goodness.0 -
Kezlou, There are people like me eating smaller portions in general and some days a little more and though I have a certain amount of calories in mind I don't sit there worrying about it or sticking rigidly to it. I know roughly what foods will be high or low in value but what is important is what feels right at the time. Either on an emotional level or health reasons.
If I was being strict I am already 337 calories over my so called allowence for today, if I decide to eat 2000 I still have 233 to play with. I've snacked, nothing exciting...tomato sandwich, two Belvita honey and live yogurt biscuits(they were on offer, I wouldn't pay full price for them)some weight watchers fromage frais and one meal of meatloaf, potatoes, cauliflower and carrots.
Yahoo are running a story about how good chocolate is for us...any excuse...
Then we have all the other so called diets including the 5/2 one...someone said there was a thread about this I haven't found it:(
But seeing that you mentioned eating smaller portions but more often funnily enough these came up on Yahoo this morning...

What strange weather we're having...sun one minute, the next wind and rain. But it is slightly warmer indoors for all that 12c/54f. It's funny how those two degrees can make all the difference.:)
For me if my hands and feet are warm I am reasonably ok. Having a full stomach probably helps too;)"A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

FUDDLE glad the Alfie Boy is on some new treatment for his ear, well done for contacting the rescue centre and coming up with a solution to his excitedness, all will be well, good luck with the crate training, takes time but you'll get there.
Just come back from the afternoon walkies and although it's dry and sunny here the ditches are full up again and the recreation ground is so waterlogged it wobbles when you walk on it. I think the underground aquifers are full to bursting and the water table is very near ground level. I think the next heavy rain band might give us some problems. The end of our road seems to have been flooded for most of the past couple of months the road looks to have subsided slightly on one side and there is always water there. We should be alright as we are raised up from road level, but the bungalows beside us are at road level, can only hope they are OK and not damp.
I purchased a couple of smaller dinner plates yesterday and am going to use them to cut us back slightly foodwise, they are 8" not 10" and it looks like a full portion but it isn't. We'll see if it works, Cheers Lyn xxx.0 -
Had a busy couple of days so have just managed to catch up on all your news. Yesterday we went out to buy a couple of sacks of fire wood as ours doesn't get delivered till Friday and its turning really cold at night again. We went round four wood yards till we found one with wood available. Two of them had been padlocked and closed down by the license people as you now need a licence to cut and sell firewood. It has created a shortage so the upcoming very cold spell will be a nightmare for the ones with no other forms of heating or who can't afford the extortionate cost of heating oil at 1.45 a litre!
We were expecting visitors for dinner at 6 yesterday so I thought they would arrive about 5.30 pm at the earliest...and they turned up at a quarter to three.....dinner only partly prepared and me soaked in sweat from brushing all the stairs by hand.... pfft.......I was quite frustrated at not being ready and not having a minute to sit down to be honest.
Then I cooked dinner and the rice that was in the bag marked long grain rice turned out to be risotto rice so we ended up with a prawn risotto instead of Chinese style prawn fried rice. Having said that, it was delicious and I don't normally like risotto. The curried chicken was gorgeous as was the gluten free apple and strawberry crumble. I couldn't get any cream to go with it so whisked local honey into Greek yogurt and it was lovely, nicer than the cream would have been.
It turned very cold last night and I was glad of the firewood we bought. We were going to leave the firewood but considering the cold spell on the way we changed our minds.
I found out today that we have farmers, delivery drivers and port authorities all on strike for three days along with the electric workers. That means no imported food and there will be some shortages so I am going to stock up on things they will run out of quickly.
Woke up with a sinus headache this morning and the tablets never really took it away. It's awful when you get them. Just watchng a really old film on the sky tv......in black and white lol
Hugs to all who need them xxx“The superior man, when resting in safety, does not forget that danger may come. When in a state of security he does not forget the possibility of ruin.” Confucius (551 BC - 479 BC):A0 -
Am supposed to be marking but it is sooooo booooorrrriiiinnnnggg
There is also only so much organising of one's Itunes that is possible to do
Popped out this morning to visit charidee shop with a couple of bags to donate and managed to get out without buying anything :T
Also stocked up in Holland and Barrett on the penny sale. SPent a fortune but is a year's worth of most things and definitely works out cheaper. Also went to the pound shop for 10 shampoos and conditioners, wally the trolley came in very handy this morning. Looks like I am going back to Seoul just after easter - a welcome addition to the coffers that will be.
OK one more exam paper..I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
I nearly missed this - so just in case anyone else hasn't seen it: look what's on BBC2 at 8 this evening:
Hairy Bikers Everyday Gourmets: "See the Bikers brew their budget-busting delights in the home, garden and on the road. They’ll also uncover frugal lessons from history, learn money-saving tricks from the restaurant trade, and discover a wealth of affordable feasts which will please even the thriftiest of cooks"

I was left with one 4 year old, the insurance paid the mortgage and I was still scared witless. You had so much more than that to deal with. Well done for coping so well and being so brave.
That's lovely. I like happy stories, they make me feel all warm and smiley
I'm just having a half hour sit down before going for the boy. Hamster cleaned out, house cleaned, ironing done, next lot of washing done and in the dryer and been to get some fruit as I don't think I've lost much weight this week.
It's very stormy here and I was moaning this morning that it was "windy as hell" as we left the house. Cue a very dirty look from the boy and the question "How do you know how windy it is in hell?". No answer to that.....
Mar do you read all the love hearts before you eat them? The RV obviously has a soft centre of his own in there somewhere
I've gone 3 years now paying the mortgage on my own balancing the books/feeding the kids.
It's not that often i get a down day (but it hits me like a sledge hammer when it does)
All you lovely warmhearted people help to keep me sane xxxxI will save my tesco £1 savings stamps this year! .......so far = £50 (full card#1)
Card #2 £6. I will not be skint at Chistmas this year!

Thanks for that 7WW, we need more of these types of programmes now more than ever...I don't buy a listings mag and sometimes forget to look online...
My iplayer had just started to work again allowing me to download programmes to watch later as some downloads of software stop that facility. I had all kinds to watch that I had deloaded. My pc has downloaded the software again:mad:and I've lost what I had already lined up to watch and cannot download new items at present until the problem is fixed so will have to watch live or within the 7 day period programmes are posted for...seems to only affect the BBC player and not the radio side of things..."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. That's like me but when I joined MSE with caring for Mum, losing Mum and getting used to a new life and wondering how I will cope and what unknowns there will be personally and financially I have had and probably will still have difficult times ahead so though different their are simularities to our situations...well to many situations we experiences on here.
As strong as we are we do all have a wobble...it could be something seen as unimportant or serious but to that person at that time it is."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson
