Kidcat, I'm so sorry to hear your news - it must be devastating for the whole family. Try and take care of yourself as I'm sure you're going to need lots of strength in the next wee while.
I have a lovely scented candle burning here so will and you and your family to my thoughts.
Take care everyone.0 -

Kezlou, is hypermobility what they used to call double jointed or something else?
Yes, kind of, its a mixture of having too much felxiblity in his joints. In addition to being over flexible it means his tendons and muscles are over stretched which cause joint pains and aches.Everyone is different, Ds2 has "wings" so his back plates are stretchy and has to lock his joints together to write, eat etc
I think with your dgs it probably is a mixture of change and feeling uneasy. I'm not sure if its the best option. For ds2 we brought his car seat into the house and encouraged him to sit in it. Took us while but eventually he got used to it. Hope he's okay now x
Welcome Purell Queen and Nannato3.
Jem (((hugs))
katieowl i quite like the blog to, i think what you have to consider with electric is what you use and how.
Her blog is quite good esp the grocery side, i used to spend £40 a week but with price hikes its gone well over. We spend about £120per month on gas and electric.
good luck with in the interview mr and mrs vp
kidcat so sorry to hear about your uncle, the macmillan nurses where amazing with my friends and mother.0 -
kidcat sending hugs.
Ds won 2 goldfish at a fair when he was 11. The smaller one lived for 4 years and the bigger one lived for 6 years. I think he only died because my friend gave me some bits from her old tank, and there was something wrong with them.
Nobody could believe they just kept going. His friend won some the same day and they lived a week.
We had nothing special. A cheap plastic tank and some stuff we put in tap water. We fed them twice a week.
I read somewhere that 100's of living fish are flushed away each year, because their owner think they are dead. If fish are over fed they get something called float. Their gills do not work properly and they float. If they were just left for 48 hours they would digest the extra food and start swimming again.0 -
Hugs Kidcat and welcome newbies

wondercollie wrote: »Purell Queen: You have my admiration. I qualified as a Dialysis Nurse years back and it never failed to amaze me how many of the patients were non-compliant. I remember one longterm patient eating bacon and eggs as he dialyzed! I left because of the horrible attitude of the patients towards staff in the hospital I worked in. 9 out 10 were diabetic, then there were the visual problems.
Now, I just stress to my diabetics to take care of themselves because vision and kidney problems are no picnic. I think in the last decade, I've only met one dialysis patient who wasn't diabetic.
Oh, and I hear you on the fluid restrictions.
And you have my admiration as do all doctor's and nurses you must have the patience of a saint :A
it was a very slow journey from the first signs of kidney disease to dialysis and then transplant and i cannot fault the way OH was dealt with there was continuity of care all the way through saw his 1st neph (pre dialysis)for years and saw the community dialysis nurses in clinic when it was time to start thinking about starting dialysis we all talked it through and decided capd would be best and then heamo would still be an option for later if needed so then he was passed to 2nd neph who was capd dialysis neph and the same community nurses in clinic but they also visited OH at home too and you can't help but feel like they become a part of your family he'son his 3rd neph now the transplant neph but sadly doesn't have the community nurses anymore but they sometimes pop by for a brew if they are nearby:rotfl:
I've seen my fairshare of non complaince and abuse of staff on wards like one patient who had a neckline for emergency dialysis due to drug use when he was on the ward he was really abusive to anybody near him and when not on the ward he was hanging about outside the hospital smoking weed and drinking abusing anybody in the vicinity
Your patient eating bacon and eggs seems to be the norm over here the theory seems to be while they are dialysing they can eat whatever they like and evening dialysis sessions especially have regular takeaway parties where patients and nurses club together and order in pizza, chinese or an indian :rotfl:
Sorry to hear your sad news Kidcat0 -
Kidcat, hugs hunny. Hard news to take on board. I have to say having experience of both Macmillan and Marie Curie nurses (I worked as a shop manager for Marie Curie) they are all wonderful and supportive to all the family. They have cared for a few friends and family over the years and as all nurses, are wonderful. I do hope everything is sorted out for his care.
Kezlou, the jury is out on the car seat at the moment as we wont be using it again till Saturday. Im working on distraction this timehe loved his old seat and would sit in it in the house happily if we brought it in. I think it is just newness and feeling insecure. Im sure we can jump this hurdle like all the others he faces bless him.
the reason i asked about the hypermobility is because I had that until the arthritis set in. I did yoga for many years which eased the aches and seemed to keep everything in place. Dd has it too. They called them 'growing pains' bl**dy hell I would have been 6 foot 10" if thats what it was :rotfl:
Good luck to Mr and Mrs VP.
Keep cosy everyone hugs ginnyClearing the junk to travel light

Kidcat:- Sorry to hear your news, you are probably right about it being only weeks though. Has your Mum taken it all in? I remember she was trying to play down the worry at first. It's an awful shock for you all.:grouphug:
Kezlou:- Thanks for talking about hypermobility. One of my DD's was able to 'pop' her hip from an early age but was not told about hypermobility until she was 16. A physiotherapist she was seeing following her meningitis, scolded her for wearing heels and explained how they made her hip pain worse.Ginnyknit, her son suffers terribly from 'growing pains', it has never occurred to us to look at hypermobility.
MrsVP:_ Good luck to you and your DH, hope it goes well today.Give us the strength to encounter that which is to come, that we may be brave in peril, constant in tribulation, temparate in wrath, and in all changes of fortune, and down to the gates of death, loyal and loving to one another.”0 -
Turns out, after all the excitement, the house is under contract. So that's that I guess.
Am a bit pained by my leg today, so less said about that the better.Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -
Oh softstuff ((hugs)) the right place will come along I'm sure:)
Thank you all for your support. My mum has fallen apart and I cant be there, OH is still ill so I could be carrying the bugs with me, its more important than ever that we dont pass anything on, I want him to enjoy whatever time is left, his son lives in South America and we are very much hoping we can bring him home, but that may not be quick.0
