I am putting this on here and the SHTF page as I think its important and some of you do not read the other page. It's from the
Ukweatherforecast page on facebook and I was told I could share
A severe weather warning will be issued for Friday-Sunday tonight for the following conditions;
- Heavy snow and Blizzard conditions (Northern areas in particular)
- Gale force, possibly severe winds
- Rapid thaw of snowfall combined with heavy rain leading to surface flooding and river flooding.
This is a serious spell of weather coming up, myself and Kris will be discussing this in detail tonight and will launch a warning and detailed forecast tonight.
To stay up to date and receive accurate information and forecasts leading up to and during this severe spell of weather like our page.
Please share.

@ POSSESSION:
Well goldfish are cold water, but they still need 'stuff' it's not as simple as a bowl, a bit of water and a fish. I'd check it out with the pet shop before you say yes...and maybe have a squint at a book (or online) I bought DS a tropical tank for one of his early teen birthdays...we christened it "Fish -The gift that keeps on costing!" It's a family punchline

They seem quite easy to look after...though I won one(as you used to at a fairground)many seem to die quite quickly when obtained that way. The other time we looked after a little girl's pet, it kept jumping out of the bowl...
Suppose how deep you want to go into it...
Is a bowl big enough, is an larger tank better, does it need heating, should it have company etc...

If they jump out the bowl its a sign there isn't enough oxygen in the water. HTH

My mum won a goldfish at the fair and had it for years..she put it in bigger and bigger bowls, then a tank of cold water in the kitchen. It was huge in the end...she named it Fred lol.
Another Fred I had was a terrapin that I got from the fair ..I think it cost me a pound. It got bigger and bigger and more aggressive if people put their hand in the tank I kept it in.....eventually it was nine inches long and I donated it to a pet shop. They kept it as a crowd pleaser in the shop lol..but had to cover the top of the tank to stop anyone putting their hand in.“The superior man, when resting in safety, does not forget that danger may come. Thank you everyone for the warm welcome.
Hope everyone is staying warm.
It is so cold here and the road and footpath are so icey.0 -
2tonsils we had terrapins when I was a child too, and ended up giving them away to a wildlife park in the end, where they got huge.
I definitely don't want a big tank, or a tropical set up, and he keeps showing me pictures of what he'd like and they are bowls really. I've said if it's a bowl it will need cleaning out every day but it hasn't dissuaded him so far. He also insists he won't be upset if it dies (I beg to differ.).
I do feel for him, really he'd like a bearded lizard or something but it's not an option.0 -

It is Nannato 3...I stayed indoors and thought its not worth the trek out...
Possession and 2T...I'd heard that Terripins can nip...
I'm glad someone got a GF that survived. In hindsight you wonder if the reason they did not survive as they could/should was a lack of information by those who won one.
Lucielle that was interesting about a lack of oxygen for why a fish jumps out of a bowl. Then again a bowl seems unfair even for a fish?"A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

Possession, would he settle for minnows/cloud fish? Gold fish are very dirty fish and really shouldn't be just in a bowl, even if cleaning every day...I think they should have company too. They can grow quite big and need a tank to fit their size, plenty of sites will tell you the dimensions. If cared for properly they can live a long time. Welfare of fish is taken very seriously now, one reason I gave up my fish as I just couldn't cope with the amount of work and cost involved for one goldfish and a few minnows.
It's a big committment keeping the bowl/tank clean etc, and most godlfish people wouldn't recommend a bowl at all.

I think it is important to learn that wanting a pet involves a lot of decision making and learning, I can't recall how old your son is, so of course any reading or information will have to be age relevant.0 -

How old is DS Possession? Will it just end up being your job??? (BTDT) (wouldn't do it again!)
Smaller critters seem to be as much work as the 'holy pet grail' of most kids, a dog or a cat.
