Just taken 3 phone calls from old LL demanding we admit that we broke the item. He was shouting, intimidating, each time I hung up with the 3rd time telling him he was harassing me and that as he's failed to act with correct procedures and that he has no proof. I was talking so fast and it's left me shaking with rage. He has no right. We're 18 days into this and I can't take much more. I am not accepting liability, he has no proof in the eyes of the rules. How can I stop this man from calling me?0

fuddle you could write him a cease and desist letter, basically telling him that he must contact you in writing in future else you will report his harrassment. Alternatively change your phone number if its your mobile, if its a landline then you can ask your call provider about blocking numbers.
Personally if you have someone that sounds professional and cool on the phone I would get them to call him, stating that they are acting on your behalf and that he is to refrain from making nuisance calls, failure to do so will result in legal action being taken etc.0 -

Oh Fuddle, what a !!!!!!. I reckon that he knows he's not got a leg to stand on by the rules and is resorting to harrassment and aggression to try and get his way.
I'd make note of the day and time of the calls and what you can remember of the content. Do you have any means to record a future call (if any, I'm hoping no more)?
I'd be tempted to call the Polis on their 101 non-emergency number and ask what can be done about harrassment via the phone. There are laws against such things and they may be able to advise. Otherwise, is there a way of using a caller ID to identify him so neither you nor DH has to pick up on him? Or to bar his number?
Hopefully one of the others will come by soon with better ideas.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Be calm, you're in the right and he is sounding slightly deranged. Hopefully you mentioning harassment will have made him stop to think. Write down now the times and durations of the calls and what was said so that you have a record. If he calls again tell him that you are recording the calls. But don't engage in conversation. If he continues to call you can report him for harassment but I'm sure it won't get to that stage. Come on, breathe deeply and release the anger, it won't make you feel better. He must be feeling the pressure to do this, I'd say that means you've almost won.
Pooky you're night sounds about as festive as ours! (Although we're so boring that we weren't invited anywhere!)0 -
Oh fuddle - I'm sorry your old LL is being such a prize !!!!!!.
I haven't yet crocheted the bag - but I'm certainly going to give it a go! Sevenup: I think you could knit the bag, or even just use some nice fabric. From looking at the pattern (and mocking it up with some old wrapping paper last night) you can make the bag using any strip of fabric that is 3 times as long as it is wide!
Fuddle - it doesn't sound quite right that your knees are sore. A lot of the plans that I've seen (and used) start off even more gently with 30 sec jog 30 sec walk x 10. Feel free to pm me if you want some suggestions (I'm a qualified athletics coach and coach a beginners running group!)
Have a good evening everyone0 -
Ill note the calls, thank you. I am so cross at myself for being emotive when talking to him. I doubt he understood a word as I was a real frightened but fighting motor mouth.
A letter sounds the right wy to go. It's all proof should he still decide to dispute. I just wish it would all stop. There is no way in backing down though. I want every penny of my deposit and I will get it.!he uses his mobile every time so ican see it saying landlord when it rings. Ill try work out call bar in the mean time.
He's a real backside. Last time right on top of Christmas and now New Year's Eve but as DH said, like we celebrate it anyway!0 -
7ww I'm nearing 13 stone so its probably my weight. They're sore walking up the stairs too. Probably under too much pressure!0

Good grief fuddle that man is a nightmare. Forgive me for not remembering, but didn't he kick up a fuss about this just as you moved house too?
Now if that's the case either he's one of those people that gets a bit deranged at certain "emotional" times of year or he knows exactly what he's doing and is using the moving and seasonal stress leverage in the hopes you'll pay up or at least admit defeat so that you can have some peace for New Year.
Either way I wouldn't give him the time of day any more, as others have said tell him he's out of order and must put anything else he has to say in writing.
OK. Grr. I wish I could call him for you, I have a very good teacher voice that I keep specially for people like him.
I'm doing my happy singleton New Year's eve, I'm a stayhomebody as well. I always go to a family do on New Year's day evening, which I find quite hard to do - it's not that I don't love them and want to see them, I'm just not a party-er.
So that's tomorrow but for now, I'm cosy in my home made fleece jim jams, I've just snarfed a delish home made chinese (ok I bought the spring roll) and have enough celery and carrot sticks with dips to sink a battleship.
The TV isn't much cop this evening though, so I will break out the cheesy dvds  And maybe some cheesy snacksWhen we go back to school I'm getting serious about my weight, but for now, bring forth the orange matchmakers and the walnut whip, and let us be merry!
2012 has been a bit of a flat year for me, I'm very grateful it wasn't worse of course, but I felt a bit like I was treading water most of the time. I think I may be slightly depressed, so my New Year's resolution has to be to make more of my time, and enjoy every minute.
I have so loved what MSE'ers and especially OS'ers have shared with me this year. Thank you all for sharing the ups and downs, laughs and tears. It's been like an anchor in my life, and that's no exaggeration.
Happy New year toughies, keep toughing it out with your pinnies bright and rolling pins held high!I believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.

Fuddle - Did your knees hurt when you did the school walk? If not, then next time you go running try taking it really slowly so you are going just a tiny bit faster than when you are doing a brisk walk. (Feel free to tell me to butt out as you probably know all this already
)
Well tonight we are having a roast beef joint, it's quite a hefty chunk for only 3 of us so I'm hoping for lots of left overs for stir-fries, casseroles and other such yummy things! We might even broached the Christmas pudding which has laid unopened since before Christmas!0 -
Evening all
Just a New Year's Eve quickie (!) to say hello and all the best for 2013 to those who remember me. I do lurk occasionally but find it hard to keep up.
Keep strong, toughies.
Oh and fuddle, if you change the text against LL's number on your phone from 'landlord' to 'prize !!!!!!' - well said 7 week wonder- you may find it takes some of the heat/emotion out of any further calls; it's hard not to smirk when you see those words flashing on your screen for an incoming call. I've found this effective in the past when dealing with ex-boyfriends (and I've used bad, bad words). HTH lol.
