I'm in the middle of packing the car and dealing with the mounting chaos...I am sure I didn't buy this many presents

I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas full of joy, laughter and varied ways of using up leftover turkey.

    Much love to everyone xxxxx

  • Afternoon all,

Gosh KatieOwl - that's quite some news to take in on Christmas Eve: I hope it works out how you want it to.

The cottage hospital is ticking along here: OH and mum being dosed with hot squash and painkillers as required. Both managed to stir themselves for brie, bacon and cranberry melts at lunch-time. (I nipped to the co-op to get a paper for mum and they had garlic baguettes at half price: what's a girl to do!) It's fish pie for supper tonight - but alas we will have to give the carols at the cathedral a miss.

I hope everyone has a lovely Christmas: may all your wishes come true and I hope 2013 is good for all of us!

Got the MIL peeling the sprouts and other veg, DD has hoovered and done the ironing. I am wrapping the last of the pressies but I can't persuade anyone else to clean the bathrooms so that will fall to me.

I have the coke to cook the gammon in, taken some previously cooked and frozen turkey out to defrost along with smoked salmon and sticky toffee pud. Out for a curry tonight with friends and the champers is in the fridge for tomorrow. We are away for a week on boxing day so I am also packing for that.

Merry christmas all and a peaceful and prosperous New Year.

Thanks for the hugs, the advice and the laughs - here's to 2013:beer:

Katie - what lovely news to get on Christmas eve, how special, I am sure you will work the practical stuff out later.

I am absolutely finished as far as I can tell, mince pies are cooling, jam tarts for DS8 are made, turkey defrosting, gammon defrosting and veg all prepped, even the potatoes are peeled.
We had time to pop to my mums to collect the turkey, kids had lunch and we sort of chilled, DS8 stole my mums reindeer (its his thing reindeers!).

I have never ever been this prepared or relaxed about it all and I put that down to you all, my confidence has grown along with my knowledge, and everything you have all shared have enabled me to have today not racing about screaming at the kids in a wild panic. So a huge thanks for all being so generous and sharing you knowledge this year.

I plan now on dying my hair and having a bath before heading to Christingle. When we get back it will be time for a quick tidy up before bed and a nice relaxing drinkies!!

Just been for a drive as part of our no fuss day. We ended up in Ramsbottom a little village in Yorkshire, it was quiet but drizzly. Popped in a couple of CS's and got myself a lovely top for £3.99 and a couple of bits and bobs. Bought ourselves a portion of chips each to munch which were yummy then pootled back home - perfect :T

Wishing you all a lovely time hugs ginny.

I'm pretty much sorted now, at least until the kids are in bed.
we're off out to scatter magic reindeer food (porridge oats and glitter) in the garden shortly then bathtime and bed in new jammies.

then i've got the wrap the last few pressies and put them under the tree and make snowy bootprints by the fire.

I managed to get the extras on DD1's list so hopefully she'll believe for at least another year. also picked up an extra on DD2's list that she added on this morning, only very cheap.

all the veg is prepped, the baileys cheesecake is made, stuffing balls made and meat almost defrosted in the fridge and i did the yorkie puds last night and put them in the freezer.

trying to get in the right frame of mind for the grocery challenges and fiscal fasting for the new year now. would love to be totally debt free by this time next year, I'm expecting it to take 2 though.

    with love to all xxxx
