I've got to work! All of us are at work today, it's totally pants. Still got shedloads to do.
Well, troosers are mended, didn't take long once I grabbed the sewing machine from the bedroom. Did laundry and even ironed things just now (only a pillowcase and oodles of hankies as have had a cold the past 11 days and still not quite clear). The rest of the washload is stuff like cotton jersey which doesn't get ironed.
Yesterday I baked 2 banana loaves and added some fresh YS blueberries for giggles. Hope this isn't a bad idea..........:rotfl:Only time will tell. They'll be fed to family who like the regular banana loaves a lot.
Feeling a bit, y'know, panicky, so am working on a list and crossing things off. It's pretty basic at the mo; eat an omelette, get dressed and go to w*rk.
Mum went to her Sainsbugs with her shopping trolley on Sat and on Sun and reported scenes of madness and brouhaha. She's lying low today, apart from fetching Nan and all that jazz.
((((Unix)))) I'm sorry that this job didn't come through for you but think of it as their loss and some other firm's gain when they hire you early in the New Year. I once had notice of redundancy 3 days before Xmas so I know it's hard to enjoy yourself when all you want to do is get jobhunting but please be kind to yourself and take as much pleasure in the season as you can.
Monnagran, there was I thinking that I was the only one who used that phrase about being so busy I'd meet myself going in the opposite direction. All you need for Christmas is two clone-sisters to share the workload. You do important stuff, you and the Rev, sending you a ration of GQ bounce to assist you on your way.
Righty, need to mainline some more tea before the brain reaches operational temperature. Have a good one and keep breathing, it'll happen OK whether or not all the preps are perfect. Laters, GQ xxEvery increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

I cannot believe it Christmas Eve already, have got up nice and early to have a quiet cuppa and get some bits done before the kids get up - well that was the plan, they got up to!!!
Off to pick last few bits up today and then its just a case of getting the jobs done and we are set. Its dry again here today and am hoping it stays that way for tomorrow, it will be good if the kids can get out with the snow machine.
DD6 is allowed out today after her anaesthetic we had to keep her in for two days, so she is really looking forward to playing out for a little while with her friends. DS8 has been awake most of the night and this does not bode well for tonight, I am planning on taking kids to a Christingle service at 5pm so am hoping OH will get all presents currently stored in the loft and move them somewhere else (probably the shed at this rate) which will make things easier later. Much easier to get presents up from the ground floor to the living room than it is to get them from the second floor past the kids bedrooms down.
My mum is flapping about my turkey, I have told her to take it from freezer at lunch time and I will collect it, but she wanted to take it out last night, I dont want it defrosted too early as I have no space in the fridge but she keeps insisting she always took hers out on the 23rd!! Having checked the NHS advice pages it clearly says it needs 12 hours at room temp - so lunch time is plenty soon enough
Have a lovely day toughies and may you all have the speed of Santa in your preps!!0 -
just delurking to say I hope you all have a great christmas and lots of goodies in your stocking... don't throw the string away. You always need string!

Monnagran, if I were nearer I would come round and help as everything is prepped and ready to go here and as we are only 3 for lunch its a low key affair. As soon as I have visited DGS for an hour in the morning Im basically done. For most of my 34 years of marriage I had elderley relatives to please - and by gum that was often very difficult - but of late its much more relaxed as we play by my rules. I even have a bottle of lemonade and a nice beer to make shandies for me and OH, we really know how to party :rotfl:
Anywho, wishing you all your hearts desires, peace, love, appreciation and most importantly nice crispy roasties hugs ginnyClearing the junk to travel light

Hello everyone
Happy belated birthday Mardartha. Glad you had plenty of sweeties!
Hope everyone's ok. Some of the posts, Monnagrans is one that springs to mind have been very thoughtful.
Sorry not had time to post last few days. Well I'm almost there - food bought, pressies wrapped, cards written and all distributed or waiting here etc. Beds changed. Decs and cards now all up rather than littered about. Tonights eve meal - shep's pie in fridge. Kids and me had baths already. Cat feeders/fussers sorted for later in week.
The house is a bit grubby to be honest so will give it a cat's lick and prefunctory tidy. A proper clean will just have to wait. Need to sort out all non fridge/freezer food as it has been sitting about in bags for 2 days waiting to be squeezed into our spare room which is packed to the rafters already. One load of washing waiting to be hung up then the rest will fester til Boxing Day at earliest.
Then hopefully few fun things - Xmas film with the kids, making a santa stop sign and mince pies with them. Kids are leaping about literally with excitement as I type.
Yesterday took kids into town to see Santa. Had a really lovely time and spent nothing - other than pound shop gifts for cats from the kids. Walked there and took drinks and hot cross buns.
First Santa in shopping centre was free but an hour queue and tried to get you to buy a photo with Santa for £9.50 (which I declined.) The grotto was opposite a sort of pop-up free art gallery for local artists (think its to disguise the empty shop that was there) so let the kids go in on their own. I could see them clearly from the queue and they behaved impeccably. I could see them pointing to the art and discussing it, felt proud of them especially DS6.
Then just before we were leaving DS8 spotted another grotto in the town's market. No queue at all, nicer santa house (lovely brightly painted wooden one rather than the plastic affair earlier) and again all free. This time the kids got 2 pressies, a little chocolate teddy and I got handed a lovely free photo. We went home very happy.
Will try and pop by later to do my festive tidings bit. Have a great Christmas Eve!

I just spoke to DD on my mobile while I was putting petrol in the car in tesco...she's pretty sure she's pregnant
This is the one who's been offered a 'real' job, there's a bloody chair in that place, as that's now THREE of the staff of 8 pregnant!
So I don't know how we will sort it all out? But your fingers crossed all round over Xmas might be helpful!
Anyway at least next xmas there will be a small person in the family to buy cute things for :T

Can't recall which one but some American comedian joked that his mother had been serving leftovers for 30 years; the original meal had never been found.:p
Hokay, won't have much time for the next few days but wishing you all, posters and lurkers alike (whom I like to think of as friends we just haven't met yet) a lovely Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Love and peas. GQ xxxxxx
GQ I have that quote in my signature; when I first saw it it was attributed to Tracey Ulman. My self & hubby; 2 sons (30 & 26). Hubby also a found daughter (37).
Eldest son has his own house with partner & her 2 children (11 & 10)
Youngest son & fiancé now have own house.
So we’re empty nesters.
Daughter married with 3 boys (12, 9 & 5).
My mother always served up leftovers we never knew what the original meal was. - Tracey Ulman0
