I'm always concerned about school dinners, ds1 said at his school they aren't to bad, he goes to hot dinners and said they pretty good portions and better than primary school lunches.Ds2 though i'm always concerned about his dinner sizes, he says they okay, but he generally always has a snack after school.

Like yourself and Lisa it is a concern when I know that I can eat reasonably well on a very tight budget and the portions though smaller than I once might've had I am not hungry.

If I do it tonight I will have mushrooms, eggs, baked beans possibly sausages and that will come in at around £1-£1.25 and perhaps with a desert of some kind around £1.50. I suppose their excuse will be adding in the cost of cooking and employing staff(possibly the delivery charges if cooked off site)

I'm sure they can do meals at a decent price that are nutrious and filling. Vegetable based meals can be even cheaper I find.

That's like me Kezlou. I can do a task but not over and over again. And I need to rest after making the effort. I hope I have filled my forms in so I am treated fairly. Its making your case so you are helped but equally I don't want to lose my independence. I don't want carers nor to deal with social services. Or go into care. I can and do work my way around my situation.

To some extent the initials of that department are appropriate.

Though I dislike making such sweeping statements as I know there are many good people in this kind of work. I am warm because I have gone under the duvet and am reasonably cosy.

I have every bit of evidence monnagran ;) what I have done is requested the full amount from the deposit scheme. They were very impartial and told me its in the LL's hands now. He has to accept that amount or suggest a different amount. We either accept or dispute. If I'm given the chance I will be writing war and paracetamol about this guy. I don't know if ill be given the opportunity to though. We'll see.

He phoned me about 2 hours ago. He was told not to contact me with issues re: house. He said he'd spoken to DH and 'got no joy' so now trying me. Now this bloke has only ever seen the quiet submissive fuddle. Tonight he got 'you know fine well that crack was there, we have spoken about it. You do not question my integrity and you do not call me or DH again about this. Deal, as we are, through the proper channels!' I was shouting
As for the inventory, there wasn't one as the house was a shambles. Everything was dirty, ripped, bodged etc. it's now in really good decorative order and I suspect he will put up the rent now but knows that the wardrobe is going to cost a lot to make good. We're talking about the same wardrobes that have damp behind them, you may recall.

DH said its over and not to stress. He's right. It's only money that we haven't had anyway. Non of it matters xx

Stick to your guns, dispute if need be - you WILL get it back. Without an inventory, he doesn't have a leg to stand on. It might take a few weeks though!

My DD's last LL wanted to keep some of her deposit because he didn't inspect for a couple of weeks, in a wet summer, after she had moved out. He wanted to keep some of her deposit because weeds had appeared in the garden :rotfl:

Needless to say she told him where to get off. He then tried to demand a smaller amount. She told him again, and raised a dispute. She got her money back.

My last tenants left the house filthy and had broken a bit of the new boiler, parked an old cement mixer full of hardened concrete in the garden, left the shed full of carp and had for some reason rewired the garage lighting with the orange cable you get on electric lawnmowers

I felt sorry for the wife (she worked all hours and her husband was a useless layabout), so didn't try to deduct anything - but as I hadn't inventoried the garage wiring or lack of a cement mixer as a garden feature, so I doubt if I would have succeeded in any case :D

Good luck, and don't give up :)

How many more are going to have their cars run into? Hope it's sorted soon Kidcat. Have you noticed how many have happened off road when parked. Is it worse this year or just anecdotal evidence.

Kezlou you could look up the condition you mention on the NHS choices website...lots of people sound similar to us...

Thanks pops, my OH has become very soppy over the past few months. Daft eh? Thirteen and half years together and now were soppy lol

It is annoying isn't, when your trying to live independently but then when you need the help you don't want to. Today was literally the first time i have cooked from fresh, most of the time i was sat down while meat roasted. Can't believe how shattered i was standing for five minutes.:(

I've looked it up but all they say is have anti-inflammatries and painkillers. Rest and try not to over do it and have lots of calcium.
Its just annoying as i've done exactly that but i'm getting worse. In four weeks i'm gone from being able to walk to in a wheelchair.
Worst thing is because i'm using the crutches i'm putting lots of pressure on my wrist and elbow joints so now they aching and swelling up.
    Really annoying.

kidcat what a nightmare with the car, hope your OH gets seen quick at the hospital.

    Oops i forgot

happy belated birthday to VJ and Mrs VG!

My birthday is three days after christmas and i hate it, when i was little i never had a birthday party and my presents were all xmas ones.

My OH tries to make it special for me, but to be honest i can't be dealing with it.

This year though i'm making an effort as my OH wants to make it special. So won't be complaining as much.

kezlou - a friend of ours has recently had steroid injections in hospital for her osteo, and she says it makes a major difference to her, it may well be an option worth exploring. :

OH back from hospital with yet more painkillers, they admit its swollen but wont go any further. So back to dentist hunting tomorrow. You can tell its Christmas :)

I was meant to have sterioid injections four weeks ago, but the GP who administers them wouldn't let me have them.

Instead she's referred me back to the hospital to be checked out. She mentioned about having a camera to check the cartilage out and see if it can trimmed back to stop the bone grinding.

Yep christmas = a&e = doctors= dentists, well in my house anyway lol

Lisa: consider yourself lucky to have 2 more days to track down present requests. I never started the Christmas list thing with my children but when my DS1 was about 4 a woman came to the door at about 5.15pm on Christmas eve. DS came with me to answer the door and this ****** woman said to him, "And what is Father Christmas going to bring you?" "A sword," says this little lad firmly. The hell he is, I thought. I was a 5 minute dash from Woolworths so screaming at my DH to watch the children I beat Linford Wotsit to the town. WW's was just shutting the doors as I burst in and demanded whatever they had that would pass for a sword. The lovely woman furked around in the stockroom and found a slightly battered plastic sword. Oh! the relief.

Kezlou, I had the op on my knee 3 years ago as it was locking - at the time I ran 4 miles a day as well as working and travelling by public transport. It always locked on the way home from work which meant it was flipping difficult to get home. I realised it was the concrete floors in the shop and continually stepping down from my office onto it that put pressure on the knee. Obviously I was exhausted too from the job which didnt help. Since the op I have not had it lock once and apart from the odd twinge it is good. I have been x rayed and all the rest of my arthritis is from the waist up which can be very painful when it flares up - a lot - but doesnt give me mobility problems. it seems to wander from joint to joint although thats not true in all cases.

if you have the op its general anaesthetic but quick - I had it done as a day cases. You have to do simple stretches religiously which dont hurt much and slowly get back to normal. I was back to work in 3 weeks. Its the best thing I had done although I had to stop running :(
